Important Update for UAE Businesses! The UAE has introduced significant changes to its Economic Substance Rules (ESR) through Cabinet Decision No. 98 of 2024, which updates Cabinet Decision No. 57 of 2020. ESR notifications are no longer required for UAE businesses for financial periods starting on or after January 1, 2023. However, businesses still need to submit any pending economic substance notifications or reports for financial periods up to December 31, 2022. The Ministry of Finance highlights that these updates enable companies to focus more on corporate tax compliance, enhancing overall efficiency across the UAE. Businesses should take note of these changes and be ready to respond to any requests or pay relevant penalties from regulatory authorities. Stay informed and ensure your business is prepared and up-to-date! Follow Strohal Legal Consultants for more insights and updates. #UAE #EconomicSubstance #TaxCompliance #BusinessRegulations

UAE Amends Domestic Workers Law with New Decree-Law The UAE Government has issued a Federal Decree-Law amending provisions related to domestic workers to strengthen rights and streamline dispute resolution. The decree shifts jurisdiction for disputes from the Court of Appeal to the Court of First Instance, with pending cases transferred without fees. If disputes between employers, domestic workers, or recruitment companies cannot be resolved amicably, they must be referred to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. The Ministry is tasked with attempting to settle disputes amicably; cases are referred to the Court of First Instance with a summary and recommendations if unsuccessful. The Ministry can also resolve disputes involving amounts up to AED50,000 or non-compliance with prior settlements, with its decisions enforceable as enforcement orders. Parties can contest the Ministry's decisions in the Court of First Instance, whose rulings are final. https://lnkd.in/dUEnbb2E
