  • Unsere Gespräche auf der diesjährigen InnoTrans haben es erneut bestätigt: Die Zukunft von Netzwerkapplikationen liegt in der Container-Virtualisierung. Wir freuen uns deshalb, mit Unwired Edge Compute eine leichtgewichtige Container-Runtime für Fahrzeugrouter und -server anbieten zu können, die die Geräte für nahezu jede denkbare Anwendung öffnet. Einen spannenden Anwendungsfall der Container-Virtualisierung haben wir gemeinsam mit unserem Partner Kontron Transportation für die AKN Eisenbahn GmbH umgesetzt. Für ein stabiles Passagier-WLAN in 14 Alstom Lint54 Zügen musste, aufgrund bestehender Verträge, der „Hotspot as a Service“ der Deutschen Telekom genutzt werden. Normalerweise hätte die Integration dieser Applikation eine aufwendige Anpassung des Router-Betriebssystems erfordert – mit hohen initialen und laufenden Kosten. Durch Container-Virtualisierung konnten wir den Hotspot der Deutschen Telekom jedoch als Container bereitstellen und so ein einfaches Deployment und eine unkomplizierte Verwaltung des Services ermöglichen.
