Building the next generation of young leaders in ASEAN and Australia.

About us

The ASEAN-Australia Strategic Youth Partnership (AASYP) seeks to build on the strong relationship between ASEAN and Australia by inspiring the next generation of scholars, business people, public servants and social entrepreneurs to engage with the region. In 2014, ASEAN and Australia elevated their relationship to a Strategic Partnership at the government to government level. The creativity, ambition and power of youth should be harnessed to tackle regional challenges and areas of mutual interest. AASYP aims to inspire Australian and ASEAN youth to engage with each other to learn more about the region, ASEAN affairs and ASEAN-Australia cooperation. It also aims to bring greater visibility to the contributions of youth in strengthening the ASEAN-Australia relationship, to encourage collaboration amongst youth actively working to address regional challenges, and to share opportunities.

  • 🌏 Time flied and the Forum entered its final days with many friendships made and memories shared! On our last day, we chose "𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝" to be our main focus and a good way of ending this journey on a positive note. 💡 Our experts talked about how we can use tech to enable underrepresented voices, address climate risks, and protect our relationships with culture & nature. Our delegates heard about all of those ideas via 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 (Ms. Quyen Nguyen and Ms. Yolanda López Hernán), 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 (Ms. Chau Nguyen, Mr. Anh Ha Huy, Ms. Tuyen (Kelly) Vo), and 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤𝐬 (Mr. Jason Martin Lusk, Ms. An Tran, Mr. Cuong Pham). ✨ And as we all knew that the end was near, we were all grateful because it had happened. Our closing remarks were delivered by Ms. Amalina Suprem, Brunei’s Delegate and Mr. Dev Bahl, Singapore’s Delegate. Our Directors - Anh Nguyen & Tahlia Beckitt and our COOs - Adelaide Pope & Shari Towns represented the Team to send a heartfelt message to all of our Delegates. We are nothing without our delegates, thank YOU! 🌟 H.E Tiffany McDonald, Australia’s Ambassador to ASEAN made a special appearance via virtual messages: "ASEAN is at the centre of our dynamic region, and you – as the next generation – are the custodians of the future of the ASEAN-Australia relationship. ... I wish you all the best for the future, a future where you will play an important role in advancing ASEAN-Australian relations: a partnership for the future." #AAYLF2024 #AASYP #ASEANYouth #AustralianYouth #YouthLeadership #Vietnam

  • We kicked off the Forum with an inspirational session full of powerhouses in the ASEAN-Australia partnership. Their message is straightforward and simple - young people are the architects of the future. The ASEAN-Australia partnership depends on the energy, vision, and leadership of today’s youth to thrive for generations to come. 🌏 We were honored to be joined by H.E Andrew Goledzinowski, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam and Ms. Sarah Hooper, Australian Consul-General in HCMC, Vietnam as well as distinguished representatives of our Partners: ABROADER and Study Melbourne Hub HCMC 💡🌟 🌏 The Delegates had a chance to share with each other their delicious cultural food that they have brought with them when coming here. Truly a moment for all the food lovers. Later on, we delved into the "𝟓𝟎 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍-𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬" (Ms. Louise Adams, Mr. Khiem Tran, Ms. Dominique Wiehahn) and "𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲" (Ms. Pauline Tamesis, Mr. Mukund Narayanamurti, Mr. Vu Dinh - MBA) panels where we learn on how Technology will be the enabler to push the ASEAN-Australia partnership forward. 💡 We concluded the afternoon with a lovely visit to the campus of VNG Corporation - one of Vietnam's biggest tech company. Thank you for hosting us! 🌟 And when the night was still young, our Delegates had a lovely and cosy dinner at the Australian Consulate-General in HCMC, Vietnam. We were honoured to have the Reception Networking hosted by Ms. Sarah Hooper, Australian Consul-General in HCMC, Vietnam. Truly, Day 1 kicked off our entire Forum off on a great start ✨ #AAYLF2024 #AASYP #ASEANYouth #AustralianYouth #YouthLeadership #Vietnam
