📢 𝟰𝟴𝟮 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗪𝝾𝗿𝗸 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗱 The planned reduction of the work experience requirement for the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa from two years to one year, set to take effect on 23 November 2024, has not occurred as scheduled as no legislative instrument has been issued to formalise this change. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: • In this year's Federal Budget, it was announced that the Government would be reducing the work experience requirement from two years to one year for all applicants. • For this change to take effect, a legislative instrument must be released to amend the relevant regulations. As of now, no such instrument has been released to formalise the change. • Applicants who were relying on this change will now need to explore other visa options or wait for the upcoming Skills in Demand (SID) visa. • The SID visa, expected to replace the TSS visa, may include the one-year work experience requirement. These changes aim to protect local jobs and prevent misuse of the visa as a temporary workaround for longer-term visas like the 482.
