Last week, Chief Police Officer for the ACT Scott Lee hosted a ceremony to officially promote ACT Policing’s newest Sergeants in front of their loved ones and colleagues. The 43 officers have been posted across various areas in ACT Policing, including General Duties, Criminal Investigations, Road and Proactive Policing, Communications, Intelligence, Family Violence, Community Engagement, and the ACT Watch House. We’re proud to officially recognise five ACT Policing members who received the Commissioner’s Group Citation for Bravery at the Foundation Day Honours Awards Ceremony last month. This award is presented to groups of individuals who have performed in the discharge of their duties, acts of collective bravery of a high order and placed themselves at substantial risk of injury. These members displayed bravery and courage of a high order when arresting an armed offender who was intent on doing further serious harm. Today, the Kids in Care ACT charity handed over more than 1,000 presents to ACT Child, Youth and Family Services to make sure every child within ACT and neighbouring regions will have a gift to open on Christmas Day. This year marks the 11th Christmas since the charity began and has seen the largest collection of gifts to date. The charity has gone from strength to strength since it began in 2013. Last month, our officers from Jervis Bay Police Station, along with NSW Police Force - Water Police and Marine Rescue NSW, hosted the very first Youth Safe Boating Program. 11 young Indigenous participants took part in a three-day course with the goal of receiving their recreational boat licence. We're stoked that all of them successfully completed the program, receiving their boat licence. This initiative has not only empowered these young individuals with essential boating skills but also promoted safety on our waterways. #Congrats #BoatLife #WaterSafety
