An additional $12.9 million has been committed by the Australian Government under the Social Housing Energy Performance Initiative to continue to support the ACT Government’s energy efficiency upgrades in social housing properties in Canberra. The funding will support the installation of rooftop solar panels and batteries linked by a virtual power plant on up to 7,500 social housing properties throughout Canberra. This funding expands on an existing $7.2 million commitment from the Australian Government and $30 million from the ACT Government to electrify and make energy efficient upgrades to social housing properties. Combined, these projects deliver improved thermal comfort and lower energy bills for social housing tenants across the ACT. Over 2,800 social housing properties have already received insulation or gas to electric appliance upgrades since early 2023. Are you currently pregnant, or have you given birth in the ACT since 1 September 2024? 🤰🏻👶🏼 We’re seeking feedback to better understand the experiences of women and birthing people accessing maternity care. The Maternity in Focus: ACT Maternity Survey will help us identify what we’re doing well and where we can improve. The survey is open to anyone who gives birth in the ACT and will remain ongoing. If you are giving birth in one of our public hospitals, look out for this postcard inside your ‘blue book’ with instructions on how to complete the survey. 📘 Alternatively, you can take the survey here: https://bit.ly/3YTJUwz

Taylah Moriarty is one of 560 graduate health workers who will join Canberra Health Services (CHS) this year. "I'm looking forward to being a part of a supportive, diverse, and empowering team. I can’t wait to challenge myself, expand my knowledge with new learning opportunities, and grow as a CHS registered midwife," Taylah said. Taylah is a Canberra local and a University of Canberra midwife graduate, who received an automatic offer from CHS in her final year. She said she is excited about her career in Canberra and the opportunities our city offers. Amongst more than 290 nurses and midwives, 90 junior medical officers (or interns) and 40 allied health graduates, Taylah has begun her first year of supported practice in recent weeks. A further 140 graduate nurses and midwives will start mid-year, expanding the ACT's dedicated public health workforce.
