Change is a constant in modern workplaces. A German study investigated the links between organisational change, psychosocial risk and mental health. Over the 12 year study period, most workers said they experienced organisational change, such as a restructure or downsizing. Such change was associated with an increase in psychosocial risks and poorer mental health. The findings suggest that organisations planning change should incorporate work health and safety measures. • 🔬 Unlocking insights into work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) in Australia.     As we wrap up National Safe Work Month, we revisit the research presented by J. Oakman, S. Clune, and R. Stuckey on preventing WMSDs in Australian workplaces.     The research and report underscore the multifactorial origins of work-related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSDs), linking them to varied workplace hazards, both physical and psychosocial. Typically, WMSDs don't stem from isolated incidents; they're the result of cumulative hazard exposure over time.     Furthermore, the report highlights the effectiveness and reliability of risk control measures to reduce risk of musculoskeletal disorders. The hierarchy prioritises moving beyond simple risk reduction strategies towards complete risk elimination.    Read the research in full here: https://lnkd.in/ge3fgajc   Learn more about how Acumen can support you in reducing risk in your workplace https://lnkd.in/gKQ8ep-H   Source: WorkSafe Australia (2016). #MusculoskeletalDisorders #RiskAssessment #PreventionIsBetterThanCure #WorkSafely #NationalSafeWorkMonth
