Adams Consulting Engineers began in Melbourne in 1991, with a small team of talented structural and civil consulting engineers. Through 25 years of development, Adams has now expanded it’s services nationally with offices in Sydney, Geelong and Ballarat. Since then, we have used engineering expertise, collaboration and advanced technology to bring hundreds of designs to life, from small residential developments to large commercial, retail and health projects. Adams had the honour of contributing to Make Room, the Project of the Year winner at the 2024 UDIA Victoria Awards for Excellence. Adams provided structural and civil engineering services on this project, which involved the conversion of a 1940s storage building into community housing in Melbourne's CBD. We’re excited to announce that Make Room was awarded Project of the Year at the UDIA Victoria Awards last Friday! This award recognises the project’s complexity, innovative partnerships, and its profound impact on addressing the urgent housing needs in Melbourne. Make Room also proudly took home the Affordable Housing Award, highlighting its role in creating sustainable and supportive housing solutions. This pioneering collaboration between Unison, the City of Melbourne, and Homes Victoria began as a bold vision: to transform 50 supportive apartments into a home for those most in need. Now, this vision is becoming a reality, with Make Room set to open its doors in January 2025. As our CEO, James King, said: “It means a lot to be acknowledged as leaders in the industry, but the real test will be in our operations and the outcomes we achieve for some of the most vulnerable members of our community.” This achievement would not have been possible without our industry partners, generous donors, as well as cohealth and Ngwala Willumbong Aboriginal Corporation, who will providing wrap-around support for Make Room tenants, Harris HMC builders, i2C Architects, and Reshape Development, who led the project management. Last Friday night we celebrated the completion of Maison Bâtard with an amazing dinner alongside the project team and Lucas Restaurants.
