Thank you to our friends at Golding Wines who have captured the sentiment of many in the beautiful Adelaide Hills. Five years on since the Cudlee Creek Bushfire. The journey has been different for everyone, but we are grateful for a resilient and hard working community. Today marks the five year anniversary of the Cudlee Creek bushfire. It’s quite the understatement to say, a lot has happened in the last five years! Today is a day of reflection but also a day of quiet celebration as we acknowledge just how far our region has come since the 20th December 2019. At the time, I wondered what five years out would look like for us, and now here we are. Our vineyard has been painstakingly rejuvenated, with the final blocks re planted this spring. Full production is still a couple of years away but the vineyard is thriving. Our wines tell the story of a dedication to fine tuning the vineyard and taking the opportunity to plant new clones. I feel like some of our best wines have been made post fire and we are super excited about what is to come. The native bushland continues to heal itself and the lush regrowth is now strong and way above head hight. Nature is a wonderful thing. We wouldn’t be here without the support of others. There are so many people that walked side by side with us on the way to this point. Too many to mention here. That support means more to us that you’ll ever know. So, today we are thinking of everyone who was affected by the fire and hope they are all doing ok. Whilst we are taking a moment to pause and look back, as always our sights are set on the future. There is a lot to look forward to and be grateful for. It is with much gratitude that we thank our friends at Showpony, MEDIIA House, Adelaide Aerial and Fallon & Co. for contributing to this reel. Last week, the Signature Experiences team from Tourism Australia visited the Adelaide Hills, hosted by our Regional Tourism Manager, Tanya Jarman. This was a fabulous opportunity to provide some small tempters of what international visitors can experience in the region. The timing was perfect as Adelaide Hills Tourism have been supporting our operators on their journey to being globally commissionable and how to customise experiences for the international market. What makes the region stand out? It's the richness of immersive, soil-to-skin, fruit-picking, Agritourism experiences, cultural icons, and exclusive winery and dining encounters that perfectly align with the evolving demands of global travellers. All done in less than a full day as they managed to arrive at the airport for an afternoon flight - the bonus of being a global destination within 20 minutes of a major gateway! A huge thank you to Karen Fitzgerald, John Daw, Galia Edwards, Nicole Mitchell, Tori Somerville, Annabel Sullivan, and Kate Shilling for your valuable time. Last week's Adelaide Hills Tourism networking event at Ondeen in Verdun was a huge success, with over 100 industry professionals enjoying local wines from small batch producers at the Ondeen Wine Room and delicious, sustainable dishes by Kane Pollard. Guests heard updates from CABN, Vinteloper Adelaide Hills, Eurilla Estate, and Jurlique on their latest offerings, while Tanya Jarman, our Regional Tourism Manager, shared insights on how we're positioning the region as a top destination in the state. Collaboration was the key theme, with plenty of excitement and energy in the room! Wishing a Merry (and busy retail) Christmas to our dedicated tourism sector. Up to 200 leading industry, practitioners and government delegates from across the country will converge in the Adelaide Hills for the 2025 Australian Regional Tourism Ltd (ART) Convention. Hosting the convention next October is a major coup for our state’s tourism industry as it is regarded as the most significant annual event for regional tourism in Australia, providing a place to exchange ideas and showcase best practice. Alongside promoting our world-class food, wine, and nature-based experiences, the convention will focus on key pillars for this regional destination, including agritourism and sustainability. Adelaide Hills Tourism were able to secure this event thanks to the partnership and support of South Australian Tourism Commission and Business Events Adelaide. The event will be held at Discovery Parks Hahndorf from 14-17 October 2025 and is expected to attract more than 200 delegates to the region.
