  • Congratulations to the team at AMPYR Australia, which has acquired Shell Energy Australia’s 50 percent stake in the Wellington Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) stage 1 (300 MW / 600 MWh) energy storage project. With its Wellington BESS stage 2 (100 MW / 400 MWh), AMPYR now owns 100 percent of the 1,000 MWh Wellington project. AMPYR and Shell Energy Australia (Shell) had been joint venture partners in the New South Wales project since October 2022. AMPYR will now accelerate development of both stages, aiming for energisation of stage 1 in 2026, with stage 2 to follow in 2027. Wellington BESS stage 1 has received planning and grid approvals and is in the final stages of procurement and financing. One of the largest BESS in the region, the Wellington BESS will contribute to improved grid reliability, enable more renewable energy generation, and lower energy costs for consumers in New South Wales. See the AMPYR Australia website (linked here) for more details. #renewableenergy #australia #bess #energystorage #newsouthwales #netzero

  • Please take a moment to read about AMPYR Energy's efforts (with partners Climate Fund Managers) to empower women in India, providing them with skills that will allow them to achieve financial independence and lead independent lives. In 2019, AMPYR Energy entered into partnership with Climate Fund Managers to co-develop the 38MW Balenahalli wind farm in the Chitradurga district of Karnataka. As part of the project, AMPYR worked with community members in Sulekal village and its neighboring villages Benkanhal, Kanakagiri and Tippanhal (encompassing a combined population of around 21,500) to establish a rural development program based on community needs and priorities. The program focused on health, sanitation and education and included the installation of a water purification plant and storage facilities, health and waste management training and resources for local schools. 💚

Empowering women with livelihood skills in Karnataka, India 🧵🌾 At CFM, addressing climate change goes hand-in-hand with creating opportunities for the communities we serve. In 2019, we partnered with AMPYR Energy to co-develop a wind farm in Balenahalli, Karnataka. Through this project, we support a rural development programme that creates meaningful impact. Natasha, from the neighbouring village of Ramajogihalli, attended vocational training, gaining tailoring skills and equipment that have transformed her livelihood. Like many in her community, Natasha now envisions a future of financial independence—an inspiring example of how targeted support can address real community needs. She shares: "I feel reassured that I would be able to lead an independent life with my tailoring skills and machine." • German energy transition bank Nord/LB is funding a 55MW AMPYR Solar Europe project in north Yorkshire. The Scruton plant is the second AMPYR Solar Europe project to be financed under a £200m Nord/LB framework project finance facility, which is also funding the construction of the Northwold Solar PV Generating Station in Norfolk.  The Yorkshire site, due to enter operation in 2026, will consist of 88,704 new ground-mounted solar panels, providing clean energy for approximately 19,400 households. Construction is expected to start in July this year. The second phase of the project will focus on adding a BESS component to the site. AMPYR Solar Europe continues to develop and construct a portfolio of solar assets across Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK. It now has a UK pipeline of close to 1GWp, and an aggregate European pipeline of 8GWp. Exciting news! 🌞🌞🌞

  • AMPYR Distributed Energy, in partnership with EnerG Renewable Solutions, is advancing the Fylde Solar project at Browns Lane in Warton, a significant renewable energy initiative for Lancashire. The 10 MW solar development will feature 14,000 ground-mounted solar panels, supplying over 9.5 GWh of clean energy annually to decarbonise operations at the nearby BAE Systems manufacturing and assembly facility. • Here's AMPYR Distributed Energy CCO Miles Thomas on how businesses can access the expertise required to secure an onsite renewable generation system that is right for them, with zero upfront cost and no maintenance charges - removing barriers to their #netzero journey: "With rigid national decarbonisation targets looming, solar is set to play a pivotal role in offsetting reliance on fossil fuel consumption, as well as accelerating progress towards the cleaner, greener, more decentralised energy landscape of tomorrow. Importantly, the fact that significant private sector funding is available reduces pressure on the government to fund the transition, upgrade the grid and single-handedly subsidise the rapid adoption of renewables. With budgets clearly a hot topic of conversation, the ability to alleviate pressure will not only protect the public purse, but also deliver the rapid growth of distributed energy that the government desperately needs. This should be seen as a major opportunity on the road to net zero. Many businesses may think that going beyond buying renewable energy to explore the advantages of onsite generation is too daunting, especially with challenges and barriers around grid connections, capacity, returns, pricing and liabilities. However, when it comes to distributed energy, the models for deployment have been tried and tested worldwide. At ADE, we plan to deploy more than £300m capital (including debt) on projects across the UK and Europe. Central to our ethos is to make it simple for organisations to realise the full potential of onsite renewables to reduce both energy costs and supply security risk. What this means in practice is that businesses can access both the expertise and the funding required to secure a system that is right for them, with no upfront costs. We understand that businesses don’t want renewable energy installations to be a liability, so we take the pressure completely off." #renewableenergy #solarenergy #distributedenergy

Here's AMPYR Distributed Energy CCO Miles Thomas on how businesses can access the expertise required to secure an onsite renewable generation system that is right for them, with zero upfront cost and no maintenance charges - removing barriers to their #netzero journey. "The UK’s enthusiasm for renewable energy generation continues to grow at a remarkable pace. According to The National Grid, total solar capacity alone surpassed 16.9GW in June 2024, increasing 8.5% year-on-year. With more than 1.4 million installations now operational and an estimated 63MW of commercial capacity being added every month, projections from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero suggest a fivefold increase, between now and 2030, to roughly 50GW installed and operational nationwide. "With an estimated 2.5 billion square meters of south-facing commercial roof space still available, which could support more than 400GW of solar power in total (far in excess of the 90GW estimated by the Climate Change Committee to reach net zero), there is ample opportunity to achieve – or even exceed – these projections. This, combined with mounting pressure to decarbonise commercial operations amid strengthening sustainability targets and ambitions to increase energy resilience UK-wide shows a clear pathway for commercial renewable energy generation in the UK." #renewableenergy #solarenergy #distributedenergy
