The Australian Influencer Marketing Council (AIMCO) was formed by experts from across the influencer marketing community providing leadership to guide the industry on best practice in order to establish a baseline of accepted practices when engaging in influencer marketing. AIMCO is an alliance of Australian companies engaged in influencer marketing working together to elevate best practice in order to address industry trust and transparency issues. Its aim is to foster a united voice of industry professionals to provide guidance and knowledge to this thriving marketing sector. AIMCO was formed by the Audited Media Association of Australia (AMAA), a not-for-profit industry association, in September 2019. Another great AiMCO – Australian Influencer Marketing Council member event, focused on Black Friday with panellists Bryce Coombe at Hypetap, Lena Zak at Amazon and Lauren Dawber (Small) at Optus, hosted at JCDecaux Australia offices When many media only offer audiences when clients want outcomes We are now in an era where the biggest growth channels are retail media and creators. Creators have that authentic and connected audience and what better retail moment than #BlackFriday to prove outcomes. Our talk focused on the power of influencers/creators and the impacts on Black Friday retail outcomes. Thanks to Hypetap for the data and key observations 💡Black Friday gains popularity Year after Year Mentions of Black Friday in Influencer captions has been steadily increasing since 2021, with 2024 numbers projected to double mentions in 2021. 💡A shift away from Boxing Day Mentions of Boxing Day sales have been declining year over year, while Black Friday mentions have continued to rise. In 2023, Black Friday mentions were up 20% compared to the previous year, while Boxing Day mentions saw a 10% decrease. 💡Black Friday is getting earlier Influencers are starting to promote Black Friday deals earlier than ever before. In 2021, posts began to appear in late November, but by 2023, some influencers were already mentioning the event in September. 💡The rise of online shopping Mentions of "online" in Black Friday captions have also been on the rise, while mentions of bricks and mortar stores have declined. This year, online shopping is expected to surpass in-store shopping for the first time, driven by influencer marketing. 💡Influencers Driving Purchase Decisions 20% of Australian consumers go to Influencer channels during the purchase process for reviews, advice and direction I would like to thank our panellists for delivering such valuable insights and also their own reflections on the things that make a content creator effective in building trust and driving results.
