  • Thanks Australian Aviation for a great article about work happening behind-the-scenes to establish the OneSKY-CMATS capability which will deliver a harmonised civil military air traffic management system for the first time in Australia.   When CMATS commences in 2027, it will be the most advanced air traffic management system in the world and the first new air traffic management system in Australia since the 1990s. #AustralianAvation #AirTrafficControl #OneSKY #avgeek

Airservices Australia has reached practical completion on OneSKY-CMATS infrastructure at its three sites in Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne. The OneSKY-CMATS system, which aims to unify air traffic management across Australia’s civil and military airspace, is slated to go live in the third quarter of 2027, with controllers to be trained on the new equipment starting in March next year. https://bit.ly/3EG35m3

  • Airservices Australia's Head of Sydney Aerodrome and Airspace Services, David Binskin, along with our Sydney Tower Line Leaders and staff, took the QantasLink executive team on a tour of the Sydney Air Traffic Control Tower this week. Always terrific to introduce our customers to members of our team who communicate with pilots to keep aircraft and passengers safe. Thanks for visiting Nick Collie (COO), Summa Wilby (Business Support Coordinator) and Bradley Childs (Head of Safety (NJS)). #Aviation #AirTrafficControl #Customers #Safety

  • ✈️ The Australian Aviation Network Overview for January 2025 is now available ✈️ Highlights include: ➡️ The Australian aviation network began 2025 with strong growth in international travel. January saw a 7% year-on-year growth in international traffic driven by leisure demand during the school holidays, Australian Open and the Lunar New Year celebrations. January 11 and 12 marked the busiest days for international traffic at Sydney and Melbourne respectively in the last five years. ➡️ Overall network reliability has improved in terms of on-time performance and first wave punctuality, following collective industry efforts. Key influencing factors include refining aircraft turnaround management, optimising flight schedules, and enhancing collaborative decision-making across airlines, airports and Airservices for weather and disruption management. ➡️ The application of the Ground Delay Program (GDP) remained minimal, with no GDP at Melbourne and Brisbane in January 2025. This reflects the positive impact of the preparation, planning and enhanced governance measures in balancing network capacity and demand without adversely impacting airborne delays, as well as reduced demand during the January school holiday period. ➡️ The momentum of month-on-month improvement in air traffic services continues. In January 2025, there were no Airservices attributable GDP delays, only two enroute airspace service variations and one unplanned tower service variation at Parafield, which was closely coordinated with local operators to minimise impact. Ensuring service consistency, including at regional airports that cater for general aviation, remains a priority. We are actively engaging with general aviation operators to better understand their ongoing needs and adjust our recruitment, training and rostering approaches to enable this important sector of our industry. • Airservices Australia has released its Australian Aviation Network Overview report for December 2024. Highlights include: - The Christmas holiday period recorded the strongest growth in international travel over the past five years, benefitting from tourism and capacity increase on international routes. - This growth was offset by a contraction in domestic demand reflecting the cyclical trend in business travel and general aviation. - Operational reliability was a key priority for our industry and we saw improved on-time performance (OTP) each month in 2024 when assessed against the same period in 2023. - December 2024 recorded the lowest level of Ground Delay Program (GDP) applications since reporting began, at around 10% of December 2023 levels, while airborne delays remained stable. - Additional air traffic service resilience measures were put in place in preparation for the summer holiday period, including changing overtime rostering practices, minimising training and maintenance activities and having additional staff on call in key locations. Delays attributed to Airservices' remained a small proportion of total delays (0.1%), without affecting peak passenger demand periods. • Airservices Australia has signed an agreement that will allow it to use market-leading airspace management software developed in the busy skies of Europe to optimise the utilisation of Australian airspace. The Local and sub-regional airspace management support system #LARA developed by international air traffic management coordinating body EUROCONTROL is an airspace reservation and booking tool, which improves collaborative decision making between air navigation service providers, Defence Australia and industry. It is already being used successfully across much of Europe. Read more at: https://lnkd.in/gdUqWjm7 #airtraffic #aviation #airspace #avgeek

  • Congratulations to our mentees and mentors who completed the 2023/2024 Women@Airservices and Srikandi Women’s Network mentoring program.  As part of our partnership with AirNav Indonesia, 12 participants from across Airservices and AirNav Indonesia’s Srikandi Women’s Network took part in the aviation mentoring program. The program runs for nine months and is part of our collaboration with AirNav Indonesia under the Indonesian Transport Safety Assistance Package (ITSAP) program.  Through the program, female mentees and mentors have the opportunity to network, knowledge share and connect with other women and men in aviation for valuable capability building.   ITSAP Program Lead for Airservices, Anita Chong, visited AirNav Indonesia’s headquarters in Jakarta recently, which gave her the opportunity to present the Srikandi Women’s Network mentees with their mentoring program completion certificates, including Veranty and Dian Farida pictured here. #Aviation #mentoring
