  • Last week, our teams held a dedicated celebration to mark the successful completion of our inaugural 4th Year Physiotherapy Clinical School Program! 👏 Over the past year, four dedicated Charles Sturt University (CSU) students engaged in five 5-week placements, acquiring invaluable hands-on experience and making meaningful contributions to our community and Albury Wodonga Health. 💙 The clinical school program offers final-year physiotherapy students hands-on learning and practical experience all in one location. By staying in one location for their placements, students avoid the associated stress of moving between different hospitals and learning new processes at each site, making the transition from theory to practice smoother! Looking ahead, we are excited to announce that, due to high demand, we will offer six positions in next year’s (2025) Physiotherapy Clinical School Program. We will also introduce a similar supervision model for Occupational Therapy, providing six students the opportunity to complete two 8-week blocks at AWH in the new year. 🎊 📷 Left to right: Nicole and Megan (AWH), Miles, Reilly and Sebastian (CSU). Absent: Hannah (CSU).

  • Celebrating a New Chapter at The Willows Today, we proudly celebrated the official opening of the new Communal and Activities Building at The Willows residential facility in Beechworth. This fresh, new space will play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of our residents by providing a welcoming space for meaningful social activities and skill-building opportunities. The building features a modern kitchen for cooking sessions aimed at promoting independent living skills, alongside a variety of recreational spaces for group meetings, crafts, and more. The beautifully landscaped gardens will also provide opportunities for residents to connect with nature and participate in creative activities like weaving. This project was made possible through the generous grant funding received from the Victorian Health Building Authority in 2021. We extend our deepest gratitude to all who worked to make this project a reality, and we look forward to seeing the ongoing impact this space will have on the wellbeing of our consumers. #Community #Recovery #MentalHealth #TheWillows Photo: Angela Verde, Deputy Chair AWH Board, Bill Appleby, CEO AWH, and Lucie Shanahan Chief Operating Officer Allied Health & Mental Health AWH, cutting the ribbon of the new building.

  • Today, at Murray High School's Year 12 Graduation Assembly, the remarkable graduating class made a heartfelt contribution of $6,400 to Albury Wodonga Health in memory of their cherished classmate, Ella Ball. This generous sum was raised through their collective efforts and innovative fundraising initiatives. 💙 Cindy Vangalen, a proud former Murray High graduate and Nurse Unit Manager at Nolan House, shared her reflections on this poignant occasion: “This feels like a full-circle moment for me. It’s incredibly inspiring to witness how these young individuals have transformed their grief into meaningful action.” The funds will be directed towards supporting youth mental health initiatives, honouring the challenges this cohort has faced during such trying times. A sincere thank you to the students and staff of Murray High for their unwavering commitment to the community and their spirit of generosity. As these students embark on the next chapter of their lives, their strength and compassion will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact. 🧡
