🎉 Incredible News 🎉 We're thrilled to share that our founder, Alex Dekker, has been named Young Melburnian of the Year at this year’s Melbourne Awards! 🌟👏 Alex’s journey, from preparing meals in his own kitchen to now leading Alex Makes Meals in providing over 3,000 meals each week across Melbourne, shows what’s possible with determination and a deep commitment to our community. A huge shoutout to Rebecca Scott, OAM, who has been honored as 2024’s Melburnian of the Year! Thank you to the City of Melbourne selection committee, Mayor Nick Reece, and everyone involved in recognizing these community contributions. This award is a shared achievement—for Alex, our volunteers, and all our supporters—and a reminder of what we can accomplish together in the fight against food insecurity. Let’s keep moving forward to make Melbourne a stronger, more inclusive place for everyone. 💙👏 #MelbourneAwards #YoungMelburnianoftheYear #MelburnianoftheYear #RebeccaScott #STREAT #AlexMakesMeals #CommunityImpact #FightingHunger

Here at Nando’s, we’re serious about reducing our food waste. That’s why we partner with organisations like SecondBite, Alex Makes Meals Group LTD. The Big Umbrella Foundation, and KiwiHarvest, to ensure our unused chicken gets to those who need it most. We call it ‘No Chuckin’ Our Chicken’. And, it contributes to 250,000 meals annually, whilst diverting 50 tonnes of food from landfill in the process. Learn more about what we do to reduce our food waste here, https://lnkd.in/gDsjc6aF

An honourable mention to Toyota Motor Corporation Australia for their tremendous support. Since our inception in 2020, Toyota hasn't just been a supporter—they've been an integral part of our journey. Each week, their dedicated team made around 1,500 meals, transforming ingredients into tangible acts of love and filling the void of hunger. Thank you, Toyota Australia. 💚🙏 https://lnkd.in/gYQR68dr
