  • Meet Isaac, one of our first-year Engineering apprentices. Isaac is one of 38 aircraft maintenance apprentices learning on the job with Alliance Airlines. Fresh out of high school, Isaac enrolled in a Certificate II in Aircraft Line Maintenance with Aviation Australia. He’s now kick-starting his aviation career in our three-bay heavy maintenance facility at Rockhampton Airport. Because people are at the heart of what we do, we thought it was time to introduce some of our team members to you, beginning with Isaac. Here’s what Isaac told us about why he chose to work in aviation... // “I’ve always been fascinated by the complexity and sophistication of aircraft and wanted to know what’s going on behind each mechanism. I find it particularly interesting to learn how each component plays a role in keeping the planes flying safely and efficiently. “Getting hands-on experience with live aircraft and working in a maintenance facility is my favourite part of being an apprentice. It’s a refreshing and unique environment. I have lots to learn, but I take home new knowledge every day. “I aim to work hard and one day become a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. Outside work, I enjoy spending time with friends, riding motorbikes, surfing, fishing and camping. “The best thing about working for Alliance Airlines is working alongside the encouraging and friendly crew at Rockhampton Aviation Maintenance facility.” // Thanks for sharing your story with us, Isaac! We're proud to have you as part of our team and part of a future generation of aircraft maintenance engineers in Australia. #AllianceAirlines #AviationAustralia #AircraftMaintenance #AircraftMaintenanceEngineer #Hiring #Rockhampton

  • Last week, we held our latest cabin crew recruitment session at Aviation Australia, Brisbane. As Australia's largest air charter and aviation services business, we seek out the highest calibre of candidates who can deliver excellence in safety and service. And the applicants at this session certainly met or exceeded our expectations. During the session, participants learnt about Alliance Airlines' culture, values, and priority of delivering the highest safety, reliability and operational performance standards. As you can see from these photos, they also had fun working together on team-building activities.  😃 It was wonderful to meet so many skilled people during the session. Thank you to all who attended, and best of luck with the rest of the recruitment and training process.

  • Alliance Airlines has collaborated with Griffith University to develop remote training resources for our cabin crew and pilots. As part of an ongoing partnership, the Alliance Airlines Training Team hosts Work Integrated Learning interns from Griffith University School of Aviation. Under the mentorship of Alliance Airlines Training Manager Troy Scott, the current intern, Nicole Wong, has used a 360-degree camera to take immersive workplace photos of our Fokker fleet.   Once uploaded into the applicable software, the photos can provide a virtual tour of the interior and exterior of the Fokker 70 and 100 aircraft. To elevate the experience, Nicole has embedded markers and ‘hot spots’ to provide information on various aircraft parts, including videos and other media. The new 360-degree training method allows Cabin Crew and Pilot Ground Schools to navigate the aircraft at their own pace, turning face-to-face familiarisation into an exercise new trainees can complete at home. Alliance Airlines’ partnership with Griffith University to allow these placement positions is a great example of a mutually beneficial, innovative and productive relationship.

  • Alliance Airlines, Qantas and Aviation Australia have collaborated to provide a new generation of engineering students with a rare learning opportunity.  Pickle forks removed from a Qantas B737 were recently donated to Alliance Airlines for student use at our Rockhampton Aviation Maintenance (RAM) facility.   Alliance Airlines provides Aviation Australia with training facilities within the RAM hangar as part of a school-based vocational training program.   By providing students access to the pickle forks, they can learn more about the importance of detailed aircraft inspections, including non-destructive testing, and the significant structural repairs that can result.  The pickle forks were originally removed by Qantas’ heavy maintenance facility, Brisbane Base Maintenance (BBM). Alliance Airlines would like to thank Qantas and the BBM team for the aircraft components, particularly Christopher Paton ⎯ BBM’s planner for Data Integrity, Warranty & NAA Compliance ⎯  who facilitated the collaboration.  This is a wonderful example of how the aviation industry can work together to provide our future Aircraft Maintenance Engineers with the tools they need to succeed. 📷: (left to right) Philip Sutherland (Rockhampton-based Aviation Australia Instructor), Alex Manning (first-year Alliance Airlines apprentice at RAM), Isaac Munsel (first-year Alliance Airlines apprentice at RAM and graduate of Aviation Australia’s Rockhampton-based vocational learning program), and David Guzzwell (Brisbane-based Aviation Australia Instructor).

New year, new apprentices!      The Australian aviation industry collectively welcomes a new cohort of budding Aircraft Maintenance Engineers every year. Each business that takes on the mentorship of a new generation plays a crucial part in building a stronger future for aviation within Australia. At Alliance Airlines, we take this role seriously.  Last week, 6 new apprentices joined our team, bringing our apprentice headcount to 38, with an additional 4 trainees also within our business. Importantly, these apprentices work and study from 5 locations nationwide, ensuring our apprentice program is accessible to as many people as possible. Our apprentice program ⏤ and the creation of our new heavy maintenance facility in Rockhampton ⏤ are part of our ongoing commitment to delivering the highest standards of safety, reliability, and operational performance through onshore maintenance. We wish our new apprentices the very best of luck with their studies. 📷: Five of our new first-year #AllianceAirlines apprentices in Adelaide last week.

  • We're proud to have supported the Queensland branch of Foodbank Australia for another year. In 2024, our staff helped pack 300 Food For Kids hampers, helping provide support to vulnerable families over the Christmas holidays. The Alliance Airlines truck has continued to give critical fleet support to Foodbank Queensland, providing 20% of its road freight capacity and helping to rescue and redistribute food to more than 300 frontline charities and school breakfast programs across the state. Thank you to all our employees who donated their time to help Foodbank, and congratulations to Foodbank for supporting so many families in Queensland and the rest of the country. We're proud to play a small part in helping you achieve great results.
