Smart structures - from theory 📚 to practice! 🔨 Episode 65 – #Distributed #Acoustic #Sensing (#DAS) was employed to detect various #vibration sources along an active #gas #pipeline. The #research team utilised diverse methods, including excavator and pick-up truck crossings, as well as human-induced actions (walking, digging with a spade or striking the ground with a fist).   The primary objective of the research was to compare the effectiveness of dedicated #monolithic #EpsilonSensors with existing telecom #cables. #Measurements were conducted through a direct connection near the test field and from 70 km using optical network as an extension. The study employed a #Neubrex interrogator – special thanks to Dr. Artur Guzik for his invaluable support.
