Peak industry body representing franchised new car Dealers in Australia
About us
As the peak body for Australia's new car Dealers, the Australian Automotive Dealer Association (AADA) fights to improve operating conditions for dealership members across the country. The Association also engages, informs and educates members on various opportunities and matters impacting the industry and individual businesses. The importance of Australia’s 72 billion dollar retail automotive industry to the economy cannot be underestimated and so the interests of Dealers must be properly protected. As of December 2013 and for the first time in history, the newly formed AADA exclusively represents the interests of new car Dealers, and is being managed by a team with real front-line experience. Led by the AADA Chairman David Blackhall and CEO James Voortman, the AADA's mission is to bring together dealerships from across the country, give them one voice, and address the issues affecting the retail auto industry. As part of its efforts to unify and inform, the AADA releases Automotive Dealer - a dedicated print and online magazine highlighting important topics, milestones and opportunities for Dealers across the country. The AADA also hosts the prestigious AADA National Dealer Convention, bringing world-leading speakers and innovative workshops to over 500 delegates every year. The November edition of the Automotive Insight Report (AIR) with AutoGrab indicates an ongoing cooling demand for used cars, with sales experiencing a decline of 2.3% to 197,652 compared to last month. In contrast, used car listings continue to grow, rising by 5.4% to 335,148 in November. This trend is anticipated to continue as the introduction of cheaper new vehicles will encourage buyers to upgrade their existing vehicles sooner, boosting the supply of used cars and influencing their price sensitivities. Across fuel types, EVs experienced the largest drop (down 8.3%), followed by PHEVs (down 7.4%) while hybrids remained relatively stable (declining by 1.7%). Retained values of used EVs in the 5-year-old category have declined by 4.7% to 48.5% in November compared to October, which can be attributed to a combination of factors including the growth in affordable new EV options paired with their substantial price discounting. #AIR #automotiveindustrry #usedcarsales Check out the full report: https://bit.ly/41wyY9T

New car sales figures released by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries indicate an ongoing softening demand for new vehicles with sales declining by 11.6% to 99,091 in November compared to same month last year. Year-to-date, sales are up by 0.6% on the same period in 2023. Private buyers struggle amid rising cost of living pressures reflected by the drop in sales by 16.6% in that segment. Consumer preferences for SUVs and Light Commercial vehicles remain clear, with Ford Ranger, Toyota RAV4 and Toyota Hilux ranking as the top 3 models year-to-date. Across fuel types, Hybrid and PHEVs continue to be a favourable option as brands and consumers adapt to evolving emission standards. The AADA has assessed VFACTs Top 10 Makes & Models YTD, ranking them by volume. The AADA has also analysed new car sales figures by state for both the month of November and YTD, as well as fuel types and market segments.#newcarsales #automotiveindustry

The October edition of Automotive Insights Report (AIR) with AutoGrab shows a decline in used car sales by 3.2% to 202,355, while listings have grown by 1% to 317,861 indicating a buyers’ market as used car supply continues to outpace demand. While petrol and diesel cars account for almost 95% of total sales, consumers are increasingly turning towards fuel efficient options with more variety and affordable options now available in the Australian market. Sales of conventional petrol and diesel vehicles have dropped by 4.5% and 2.3%, while PHEVs are still the top pick for buyers – experiencing a jump in sales by 27.1%. With the influx of a large number EVs into the market, used car sellers are struggling to move stock, reflected by the increase in the average time to sell a used EV, rising from 55 days in August to 67.3 days last month. #AIR #automotiveindustrry #usedcarsales Check out the full report: https://bit.ly/40W1jGy
