There is a good reminder in the newly launched scam awareness campaign - your bank will never call you out of the blue and ask for your account details. If this happens, you should hang up and call your bank back on an official number. Remember to always Stop. Check. Protect.

The ABA welcomes the launch of the Federal Government’s new scam awareness campaign, encouraging Australians to STOP. CHECK. PROTECT. ABA CEO Anna Bligh said this was a timely reminder for Australians to be on the look-out for the tell-tale signs that you might be being scammed. “Our industry fully backs the clear messaging of this campaign – if something doesn’t feel right, make sure you stop, check and protect yourself from scams. The ABA is urging everyone to remain vigilant to parcel notification scams. These scams often involve fraudulent messages claiming to be from delivery services, asking for personal information or payment to release a package. For more information visit: https://lnkd.in/gWT7p4tt

AP+ and the Australian Banking Association is urging everyone who has received a message from their bank about updating the debit card in their mobile wallet to do so before 1 Jan 2025. This update will ensure consumers can continue to make payments via eftpos from 1 Jan 2025. The Australian Banking Association has welcomed the launch of the Regulatory Initiatives Grid (RIG) pilot as an important step forward in improving transparency of the regulatory pipeline across key Government agencies and regulators. The Reserve Bank of Australia unveiled its latest retail payment statistics, providing the first comprehensive view of mobile wallet usage across the country.
