About us

Australian Graphic Design Association Limited is the peak national organization representing the Australian graphic design industry. With more than 2,600 members distributed throughout the creative, visual communications, applied design and technology sectors, it is dedicated to advancing the profession through an interrelated program of state, national and international activities in education, advocacy and professional development. AGDA is a lead member of the International Council of Graphic Design Organisations, forming a global network of 187 member associations in 56 countries and consultative status with UNESCO, UNIDO, ISO and WIPO. AGDA was founded in June 1988 by a small, dedicated group of Melbourne-based designers. Fifty designers from across Australia marched into history when they joined together on stage at the Mildura Conference to symbolise their solidarity and commitment to its formation.

    Adelaide University, born from the legacies of the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia, made its debut this past July. Now, it’s poised to redefine the global higher education sector. But what did it take to get the brand there? The client will present the project brief as it was written, and then the creative team will take you through their return brief before taking a deep dive into how they responded. They will discuss their strategic goals in the execution of the final deliverables. The best part?     Say hello to Jimmy Patch 👋 Jimmy Patch is a creative with skills in illustration, graphic recording, design and animation. He has travelled the world partnering with a range of organisations, and his work has been featured in publications and exhibitions from the US to the UAE and, most recently, his solo exhibition 'Mad Dangerous' in Collingwood, Melbourne. Jimmy runs Patch Creative, a digital creative production house that has provided services to high-profile entertainers like Hamish & Andy and DZ Deathrays and corporate and government entities like ARUP, Chanel and ABC. In his work, he aims to find new ways to tell engaging stories with effective digital design by being sporadic, raw and obsessive to cut through the noise. Originally from Germany, after living on the Sunny Coast for 20 years, he spent six years in New York City and Silicon Valley when he took his last startup to the US market. After his successful exit, he now lives in Sydney, Australia and coaches startup founders globally. Bonny is also a passionate UX/UI designer with a superpower in mobile and SaaS.
