For anyone interested in Chinese culture, #AccessibleTourism, and Australia’s gold rush era, Ballarat in Victoria is a big drawcard.🔍🦼✅ Gold was discovered in Ballarat in 1851. Victoria produced more than a third of the world’s gold when 370,000 immigrants arrived in Australia during the gold rush years - and a quarter of the area’s residents were Chinese. A new historic attraction has been unveiled at Sovereign Hill Museum, thanks to a grant from the Australian Government’s $50 million National Tourism Icons Grant Program (NTIP) led by Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade). The The Sovereign Hill Museums Association received A$10.1 million for upgrades to its: 💰gold panning creek, to accommodate more visitors 💰panning troughs, which were raised to improve accessibility for all visitors 💰Chinese Protectorate Camp, for better access to the historic huts and tents by widening doorways. Tourism benefits our regions more economically than capital cities, and fills more jobs. In 2023-24, $80 billion was spent in regional Australia by travellers and tourists. This means tourism contributes $219 million to regional Australia, every day. Looking for your next getaway? In 2025 we’re celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement (JAEPA), one of Australia’s most utilised and successful trade agreements.🤝 Japan is Australia’s second-largest trade partner. 🇯🇵🇦🇺 Since entry into force on 15 January 2015, Australia’s goods and services exports to Japan have almost doubled in value, reaching $90.2 billion. Australia and Japan are natural partners, with highly complementary economies. JAEPA brings our economies and societies closer together, delivering preferential access to over 95% of two-way trade. We look forward to greater cooperation as our two countries navigate the energy transition and develop new industries. Patties Foods, the maker of Four’N Twenty pies, has benefited from growth in agrifood exports to Japan, making the iconic Australian meat pie available to hungry sports fans from the MCG to retail stores, theme parks, ski resorts and sports stadiums across Japan.🥧🏟️ Learn more about doing business in Japan: https://lnkd.in/gC7z_pW7 #BeefExports #agribusiness #AustralianBeef #JAEPA Daniel Boyer | Elizabeth Cox | Kendall D.

Did you know one in four jobs in Australia is trade-related? This highlights the crucial role trade plays in Australia’s economy. In fact, two-way trade in goods is valued at approximately $1 trillion, which represents a remarkable 40% of Australia’s GDP. 💰 The Simplified Trade System (STS) is at the forefront of modernising and digitalising trade processes, implementing essential reforms that bolster Australia’s economic security. In the latest edition of Across Borders by the Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA), the Minister for Trade and Tourism discusses how the Australian Government is actively supporting businesses and fulfilling its commitment to opening new markets for exporters, while ensuring that vital trade flows remain uninterrupted. In the article below, Daniel Curtis highlights the importance of the whole-of-government STS reforms, which are designed to enhance productivity and increase global competitiveness.👇 These reforms aim to make importing and exporting processes cheaper, faster, and simpler, ultimately benefiting Australian businesses in a competitive global landscape.🌐 Read the full Across Borders newsletter online: https://lnkd.in/gUkTkSBs #SimplifiedTradeSystem #TradeModernisation #TradeReform #DigitalTrade Daniel Curtis | Ankita Saha
