ADSN 2024 is in the books! Thanks to the incredible team at the Curtin Institute for Data Science for hosting and organising this year's conference. Over three days, more than 130 people attended as we showcased the diversity and vibrancy of Data Science in Australia and within the research organisations of the ADSN. Thanks to all who attended!

Transform Healthcare Research with the AI Resource Hub Project! The Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) has invited the Australian Data Science Network (ADSN) to develop a co-investment project plan for the ARDC's AI Resource Hub Project, a transformative initiative advancing healthcare research with cutting-edge analytics and AI. Meet Tahsin Alamgir Kheya - a PhD Candidate at Deakin University. Her research focuses on evaluating and mitigating bias in Artificial Intelligence (AI) models, with the goal of developing tools to detect and address bias in real-world applications. Thrilled to be featured in ADSN’s “Next Generation” Spotlight Series! As a researcher in the critical field of Bias in AI systems, I recognize the fact that bias doesn't solely manifest in models for the algorithms, but the data itself. In the pursuit of fairness in such systems, we have to tackle these systematic discrepancies at the root, integrating ethical and technical considerations within the field of data science. Thanks to the Australian Data Science Network for this opportunity and to everyone who has supported my journey so far, especially my supervisors. Also, I didn't have a lot of options to work with so here's me looking like a chipmunk (note to self: take more professional photos).
