  • As a mutual, we will be contributing to BCCM Icons gallery in 2025. Looking forward to sharing the many stories which make up 52 years of Bank First - a bank for teachers, nurses and allied health professions. We will shine a spotlight on the importance of the cooperative sector, particularly in finance, in Australia, as we continue to bank our past and present Members and work towards banking the next generation of these critical professional workforces. #IYC2025 #BCCMIcons #CooperativesBuildaBetterWorld #coops #mutuals

  • Simon’s back and he’s in the big chair! Bank First welcomes back Simon Terry as Chair following the Annual General Meeting and he has spent his first week in the job meeting with Bank First staff. In his first week in the Chair’s seat, having previously served on the board from 2018 – 2022, Bank First staff officially met Simon at a company-wide team meeting. It was a session where we were encouraged to ‘ask anything’, and we did. Starting with ‘what’s the biggest difference you’ve noticed from 2022 to today at Bank First?’ ‘Back then, we were talking about a lot of things, in terms of deepening our partner relationships and a digital transformation, but now that I’m back I can see those foundations are laid’. Asked what he was most excited about on his return, it was his belief that Bank First can make a massive difference to the people fundamental to the kind of lives we live here in Australia. He also warned against accepting what others are doing as the roadmap and that we don’t aspire to be a smaller version of a big bank. ‘Do different. Do remarkable. I’m really excited about the future.’

  • At our recent Annual General Meeting, Bank First members not only heard about our TIP People’s Choice winning program - they were also able to experience it for themselves. Echuca Twin Rivers Specialist School students prepared a range of their favourite slices that were packaged up for Members to take home and enjoy. • Bank First is delighted to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Compton to the board of directors. Elizabeth’s directorship is effective from 22 November 2024. Chair Simon Terry said Elizabeth brings a wealth of experience in executive/CEO and leadership roles from a national, and international, perspective and will add significant value to our board. ‘Liz is an experienced Non-Executive Director with significant experience in both education and health, sectors that Bank First serves,’ Simon said. ‘Through her work, Liz has demonstrated her commitment to the principles of values and purpose-based organisations with a focus on caring and service for Members,’ he said. "One of my first roles was in investment banking and my mother was a teacher, so to now be joining a bank started by educators is a beautiful full-circle moment. It is a privilege to be on the board of an organisation and especially one such as Bank First that is purpose and values driven", Liz said. • Thank you Bernie! After 13 years on our board, Bernie Lloyd FAICD's final AGM will be at tonight's Annual General Meeting and she has written a message for Members reflecting on her time with Bank First. 'What an honour it has been for me to serve Bank First as both a Director and Chair. When I began as an intern position in 2011, I could not have imagined that, all these years later, I would still be part of our Bank and that it would be such an integral part of my life: personal as well as professional. To cope with the leave-taking, I'm taking heart from a wonderful Leonard Cohen song called 'Alexandra Leaving'. It has its genesis in classical Greek poetry but its main message is that 'when something is over, focus on the joy it brought you not the loss of it'. READ MORE: https://lnkd.in/gEcyMFNj

  • Working from home versus working in the office? We have the best of both worlds with a wonderful, refurbished office space and the flexibility to work from home or remotely. Our talented corporate services team, led by Nicole Porter has created a refurbished office environment at 117 Camberwell Road, Hawthorn East where our people can be at their best. The impact of this transformation has brought a renewed sense of team engagement to Bank First and given our people an even greater pride in their environment, as evidenced by the increased number choosing to work from the office.    Special thanks to Nicole Porter, Ha Tran and the broader team for their work in bringing this vision to life.

  • Red, green, yellow, blue? We've all grappled with what goes in which coloured bin. The eco-leaders at Oscar Romero Catholic Primary School are on a mission to create a lasting impact for their school and community. Bank First is proud to support Oscar Romero Catholic Primary School's efforts through our Teaching Initiatives Program. Learn more: https://brnw.ch/21wOoZl
