  • Snorkellers seas the day! 🌊🤿 Each year during the January school holidays, Disabled Divers Association and Coastcare Victoria run two weekends of free snorkelling activities at Ricketts Point in Beaumaris. The program has been a recipient of the Bayside Community Inclusion grant stream and is supported by volunteers. More than 16 people living with disabilities came down to participate in this years' event; for some, it was the first time they had ever been in the bay or snorkelled. Feedback from one of our participants: "I found this day hugely emotional. As I was waiting to snorkel, I felt sad that I'd lost the ability to visit the beach and how, without help like this I couldn't even contemplate it. I was sad because I thought this would very likely be a one-off - I almost didn't want to enjoy it too much as losing it would be too painful. But as I was snorkelling, I was so amazed, delighted, and free that I pledged to myself that I MUST NOT allow this to be my only experience. I cannot thank you and the volunteers enough". Thank you to our Family, Youth & Wellbeing team for their work with this program. 🔗 We're proud to support a range of all-abilities sports programs throughout Bayside, which you can find out more about here: https://brnw.ch/21wR0su [Image description: A program participant smiling with a volunteer during a previous snorkelling session in the bay.]

Being face-to-face with the community, knowing that I’m helping them is wonderful" ♥️ We are always looking for Support Workers to join our committed and fun team, who assist Bayside and Glen Eira residents. Chief Executive Officer at Bayside City Council

Some news for my network. Today I called time on my role as Chief Executive Officer at Bayside City Council after six and a bit years and 12 years with Bayside. After such a long run it is now time for a change for both me and the organisation. I’m also coming up to 43 years in Local Government and looking to do something a bit different in the future. This doesn’t mean retiring but working less hours and having more balance in my life. It’s also the right time for me to make this move as we are well progressed with Bayside’s new Councillor induction process and have launched the South East Metropolitan Advanced Waste Processing Project and the expansion of Bayside Care and Support to include Glen Eira aged care. These are two recent projects that I am particularly proud of. Bayside is in excellent hands with our new Council and an experienced and talented Executive Team. It has been a privilege to work with the Council organisation to serve the Bayside community and I believe we deliver a fantastic range of quality services to the people we serve. Council will be considering the transition process in the next few weeks as is usual in CEO employment matters. My last day at Bayside will be 28 March 2025. I’m looking forward to this next phase of my professional life.

  • Letting the good times roll at Bayside Care and Support pétanque outing⚪☀️ Offering activities outside of traditional aged care services is an important aspect of Bayside Care and Support. Providing these important wraparound services reduces social isolation while meeting the physical needs of our community. Organised outings are always a highlight, such as the recent visit to our new pétanque facilities at the Dacey Street corner of Dendy Park, Brighton. Outings provide clients with an opportunity to engage in activities while connecting with friends in a supportive environment. 🔗 More on Bayside Care and Support's social support programs and the free-to-use pétanque facilities at Dendy Park: https://brnw.ch/21wPU8O [Video description: a recent outing to the pétanque piste at Dendy Park, featuring our Bayside Care and Support clients playing pétanque and interacting with our staff.] #BaysideCareAndSupport #Pentanque #AgedCare #BaysideNews #Community
