BBSers recently enjoyed a change of scenery with a weekend away on beautiful Stradbroke Island, where the team enjoyed the chance to come together outside of the office for collaborative internally-led strategy sessions and open discussions on how we can be constantly revitalising the way we work. The opportunity to explore the thoughts and insights from BBSers of all levels who work across a diverse range of clients meant the team walked away from the weekend looking forward to being able to implement these fresh perspectives to existing and future work. In between workshops, Stradbroke put on a spectacular show for plenty of beach walks and swims. With what is sure to be a busy year already well underway, the chance for the BBS team to enjoy time spent together was much appreciated by all. #TeamBBS #BBSBreakaway Image description 1: BBS team standing on a rock by the ocean at the North Stradbroke Island Gorge Walk Image description 2: BBS team sitting at a restaurant table for dinner Image description 3: Beach view from North Stradbroke Island

BBS Group Client Manager Barbara Haines delivered a keynote presentation and contributed to a refreshing panel conversation at the Property Council of Australia Queensland's Retirement Living Forum earlier this week, sharing her insights on the importance of telling the positive stories that exist in the retirement sector. Barbara's keynote address and the broader panel discussion delved into the state of the media landscape, the importance of responsive reputation management, and building an appealing news story that always keeps the needs of the audience front of mind. With almost a fifth of Queensland's population predicted to be aged 65 or over by 2046, it is becoming increasingly important to prioritise these conversations on how to navigate a growing retirement sector. It’s the age of the engineer, according to the AFR. What is your engineering firm doing to stand out from the crowd to attract clients and employees? Three things to think about when elevating your brand: 1. Consider if you have a ‘unique and value-based’ point of view to share 2. Think about how you can show your organisations culture so that you can attract your ‘tribe’ 3. Be aware that engaging with media for thought leadership purposes is a two-way street. Be ready to have your opinion challenged and be prepared to talk directly with journalists and others on the topic BBS has a long history of working with professional services firms, from engineers to lawyers and every profession in between, to showcase the exceptional work they are doing in areas as diverse as ESG, clean energy, infrastructure and robotics. We’re all about partnering for success and supporting professional services firms, as stand-alone advisors or in support of their in-house comms teams, with Media Relations & Training, PR Strategy & Campaigns, Communications Auditing, Copywriting & Content, Social Media, Risk Identification & Mitigation Planning, Crisis Management, Change Management & Internal Communication, Stakeholder Mapping & Analysis, Brand strategy and Narrative Creation. If you want to be known as a leader in your field, then a good PR agency will tell you that industry awards must be part of your marketing communications strategy. Industry recognition shines a light on your brand and expertise, building credibility that paid advertising alone cannot achieve. Think of the impact a Canstar Award (or conversely, a Shonky Award) can have on perceptions of a consumer brand. Strategically selecting awards that showcase your strengths can open doors to further successes.
