  • Have you ever wondered, why do muscles burn during exercise? The basic answer: It’s all about energy production, giving us a view of exercise physiology in action🔋 When you challenge your body, your muscles break down glucose to fuel the effort. This process produces lactate, which can accumulate during intense activity 💪 The 'burn' you feel is a sign of your muscles working hard and adapting to grow stronger. Exercise physiology helps us understand these responses and how to utilise training to improve performance and recover faster. Embrace the burn—it means progress! 🙌 🤸

  • One of our exercise physiologists, Angus, is participating in Movember, and here are his progress from the month 🙌 Movember isn’t just about growing a mo—it’s about raising awareness for men's health. Did you know that 75% of Australians who commit suicide each year are male? Exercise is proven to alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression and improve overall mood by releasing endorphins, also known as 'happy hormones.' Not only have studies shown that men who exercise have a reduced risk of prostate cancer, but exercise is also beneficial during the cancer treatment process. It’s not weak to speak. During Movember, connect with a mate, a relative, or an exercise physiologist to take a step towards better mental and physical health 💙

  • Over the past few months, Angus has been working closely with one of his clients, an aircraft mechanic, on their recovery journey following a mountain biking accident. This journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Each week, they tackled challenging tasks that required precision, coordination, and strength—skills they’ve steadily rebuilt with confidence. Seeing them return to work and regain a sense of normality has been a highlight of this process. Now, as we approach the final stages of rehabilitation, the focus is shifting toward long-term goals. Together, they’ve started planning sustainable exercise routines, including regular gym sessions, with the aim of building confidence in navigating a new environment. The plan ensures they feel equipped to adapt their workouts as needed and seek support when necessary—empowering them to maintain their progress independently. Here’s to their resilience, strength, and the new opportunities ahead. 💪✨

  • Hydrotherapy is a form of therapy and rehabilitation that uses water to reduce pain, improve mobility, and promote relaxation. Here's how it works: ✨ Buoyancy: Water reduces the weight on your joints, easing pain and making movement feel effortless. ✨ Resistance: The natural resistance of water gently strengthens your muscles, helping you build stability and power. ✨ Warmth: Warm water relaxes tight muscles, improves flexibility, and just feels downright amazing! Not only is hydrotherapy good for the physical being, but the relaxing environment also improves mental wellbeing in patients. Ready to give it a try? Harry and our team are passionate about helping you feel your best. With their skills and enthusiasm, you’re in the best hands to make your hydrotherapy experience both effective and enjoyable! 🌊💪

  • As we navigate the complexities of modern healthcare, telehealth has emerged as a powerful solution that enhances patient access and care. Here’s why it’s an innovative approach worth embracing: 1️⃣ Accessibility: Telehealth eliminates geographical barriers, making physiology services available to individuals in remote areas or those with mobility challenges. This inclusivity is essential for promoting overall health and well-being. 2️⃣ Flexibility: Patients can schedule appointments that fit their busy lives, ensuring continuity in their treatment plans without the stress of travel. This flexibility is key to maintaining engagement and commitment to therapeutic interventions. 3️⃣ Consistency: Telehealth enables patients to stay on track with their recovery, even during challenging circumstances, such as public health crises or personal commitments. This consistent care can lead to better outcomes. 4️⃣ Comfort and Convenience: Patients can engage in therapy from the comfort of their homes, reducing anxiety and creating a more relaxed environment for discussing their health challenges. Exercise physiology telehealth represents a significant advancement that empowers patients and providers alike. Let’s harness this technology to improve patient outcomes and make quality care accessible to everyone!
