As we recognise National Child Protection Week, it's important to remember that we all have a role in creating stronger, safer neighbourhoods. This can start by talking to your neighbours, checking in with friends, being a good role model, and offering support to parents instead of judging or competing. Lend a hand where possible and speak up if you see something unsafe. It's essential to listen to and value what children have to say. Whenever possible, include their voices in decision-making and advocate for their best interests. By regularly discussing personal safety with children, helping them understand how to protect themselves, and being attentive to their worries, we build trust.
