  • Blackmores Institute welcomed Kirin Holdings to our offices in both Melbourne and Sydney in November. It was a wonderful opportunity for both teams to connect and share insights on future complementary medicine and health science innovations and research, helping us to create shared value. In between presentations and collaborative discussions, the teams enjoyed a tour of the different retail settings where complementary medicines are accessed in Australia, a tour of our manufacturing lab in Braeside, and our state-of-the-art packaging capabilities in Warriewood. The consort visited the NICM Health Research Institute at Western Sydney University for a tour of the facilities, and a discussion with leading researchers in the complementary medicine field in Australia. We are excited about the future and look forward to further strengthening our partnership with Kirin Holdings and the opportunities this will bring to the complementary medicine industry. • 🌸 THE MENOPAUSE JOURNEY || A second spring "China and Japan have a lower prevalence of hot flushes than women in Australia, the US and Canada. In traditional Asian culture, they see perimenopause and menopause as a second spring or rebirth, and they see it in that positive view more of a positive transition." Professor Lesley Braun recently facilitated a conversation with fx Medicine ambassadors Lisa Costa-Bir, Dr Adrian Lopresti, Dr Michelle Woolhouse and Emma Sutherland, in a two-part series navigating the complexities of the menopausal journey. The team take a well-rounded look at the impact of menopause, the clinical manifestations that can present, and how healthcare professionals can support and empower patients to navigate this profound time in a woman's life. The three main phases of the menopause journey include: 🔹 Perimenopausal: The transitional period from regular ovulatory cycles to a more fluctuating menstrual cycle. Symptoms can start 5 to 10 years before the complete cessation of the menstrual period. 🔹 Menopause: The cessation of the menstrual period for at least 12 months. The average age is 51 years. 🔹 Postmenopausal: Following menopause. 👉 Listen to part one of the podcast here: https://brnw.ch/21wPqMZ 👉 Listen to part two of the podcast here: https://brnw.ch/21wPqMY #Menopause #FxMedicine #PractitionerEducation #Perimenopause

  • 🔬 ZINC || Safe and confident prescribing Complementary medicines are often used alongside conventional drug treatments, creating a holistic approach to health. Our Complementary Medicine Interactions Guide (CMIG) equips pharmacists with the evidence-based insights needed to prescribe these medicines with confidence, knowing they can safely navigate potential interactions. This comprehensive resource provides clear information on interaction mechanisms, evidence strength, and clinical recommendations, helping healthcare professionals make informed decisions to optimise patient care. Today we highlight zinc, well known for its role in immune system support. Understanding its interaction with penicillamine, where zinc can decrease drug efficacy, allows pharmacists to optimise care while ensuring patients are closely monitored for the best results. With the CMIG, you have the insights to make prescribing decisions that support both safety and enhanced outcomes. 👉 Head to our CMIG online to view all interactions to be aware of for zinc and access clinical recommendations for each to optimise safe and confident prescribing: https://brnw.ch/21wPiUG #CMIG #ComplementaryMedicineInteractionsGuide #BlackmoresInstitute #Education #Research #EvidenceBased #ComplementaryMedicine #Zinc
