In the welding industry, safety isn’t just a guideline; it’s a responsibility. Welding fumes are a known health hazard, classified as carcinogenic and linked to long-term respiratory issues. Protect your team by opting for low-fume processes, using safer shielding gases, and ensuring reliable fume extraction systems. Health and safety should be at the core of our work every day. . . . . #WeldingSafety #BOC

BOC’s Manufacturing Applications Technology Centre at Rocklea in Queensland provided the perfect setting for the recent collaborative robot welding technology workshop, delivered with Weld Australia, the Australian Cobotics Centre, BOC, and South Pacific Welding Group. Alongside other cobotics industry leaders, BOC Applications Specialist for Southern Queensland Darryl Coombs, SPW and BOC staff, showcased the benefits of using this innovative technology to unlock productivity gains and increase safety within operations. Of particular interest to the 50 attendees was the EWM Phoenix 355 cobot power source. Integrated with a Doosan cobot by Diverseco, it demonstrated the system’s impressive welding capability and ease of programming. . . . . #BOC #Cobotics #RobotWelding #WeldingTechnology #ManufacturingInnovation

This Safe Work Month, BOC and South Pacific Welding Group are raising awareness about the serious risks of welding fumes—not just for welders but for everyone nearby. Welding fumes are carcinogenic, with exposure leading to severe health issues like respiratory problems and long-term lung damage. Safety starts with making smart choices upfront: choosing low-fume processes, safer shielding gases, and filler metals that reduce emissions can protect everyone on site. Combine these proactive choices with proper ventilation, protective gear, and solid fume extraction systems to ensure a safer environment for all. This month, and every month onwards, let’s put health first by managing fume risks effectively and committing to safety across every worksite. Navigating the changes to regulations covering welding fume mitigation and control continues to be a hot topic right across the Australian welding and fabrication industry. It’s why events like the recent Weld Australia-hosted day at Mount Druitt TAFE NSW are critically important. Alongside other experts in the field, BOC showcased the latest equipment, technology and techniques available to manage fume emissions giving welding and fabrication educators, business owners and employees the knowledge and confidence to stay safe and compliant. A key innovation in this area and on show at the day are BOC’s Prevention Line Shielding gases which have been demonstrated to effectively lower the fume emission rate for MIG/MAG/GMAW, FCAW, and MCAW processes. . . . . #welding #fume #mitigation #Australian #fabrication
