A career without borders... Aaron Fernando recently moved from our Victorian concrete team to our ACT Quarries team. He started out as an Undergraduate Engineer and has made several internal moves to become an Area Manager, and now a Maintenance Manager at Mugga Quarry. "Each career move came with a new set of skills to learn, a different area of the business to understand, and people to get to know. My advice to people who are looking to try something new at Boral is that it really is all in your hands, especially if you have the right attitude. If you want to move into a different role or even business unit – you can." Read more of Aaron's story: https://lnkd.in/gY-yh2A9

Boral is bringing the colour to Dreamworld's newest attraction, Rivertown! Our decorative concrete colori® in the shade Cacao was selected to match the rustic tones of wood, stone and steel throughout the jungle-themed attraction. The aggregate has been exposed and paired with a rock salt finish, creating the look of a rugged forest path. Dreamworld is just one of many high-profile projects featuring our colori® range. Bring your next colourful idea to life with our collection of coloured concrete: https://brnw.ch/21wQX40

"I have always loved what I do and still love it. It helps that Boral feels like home to me." Neil Bellamy reflects on his 40-year journey with Boral, where he began as a Soil Tester in 1984. Over the years, he has seen significant technological advancements in the quarrying industry while staying true to the core practices. From his start at as a Soil Tester at Stapylton Quarry to becoming Quarry Process Optimisation Manager, Neil has embraced every opportunity. He pioneered electronic blasting techniques at West Burleigh Quarry and has held numerous roles across Queensland, all thanks to the foundations he built at Stapylton. Currently, he focuses on process improvement projects and managing the new plant build at Roseneath. Neil's commitment and passion for the industry remain strong, as does his family's connection to Boral - his wife Cindy has worked with us for 17 years, and both his son and son-in-law are also at Boral. Now here's something you don't see everyday! Transporting concrete to a remote island via helicopter... Our Narooma team gave a sky-high effort to deliver this unique project for NSW Parks and Wildlife on Montague Island/Burunguba, a remote island located nine kilometres off the south coast of NSW. Boral supplied 90 cubic metres of concrete via helicopter and kibble in three cubic metre loads across four days. Our Narooma Plant worked to a precise schedule, as any delays would result in increased helicopter charges. Now visitors can enjoy the view of penguins and seals on Montague Island with an updated 400 metre access track. Operations Manager Southern NSW/ACT Hayden Gibson-Hearne said, “the Narooma team didn't miss a beat all week and our customer praised the team for their efforts and service”. Our CEO Vik Bansal and some of our major customers have come together to celebrate an incredible milestone for one of our team. This week, Arthur Hatzis, our Recycling Sales Manager for Victoria, reached his 40-year work anniversary with Boral. He's delivered over 50 million tonnes of virgin and recycled rock to some of the state's biggest projects, including the Melbourne Airport upgrade, the West Gate Tunnel Project, and water treatment farms for Melbourne Water. While that’s a lot of rock - Arthur has also built long-term relationships with partners at some of the industry's great companies, including Winslow, BMD Group, Delta Group, Rokon Pty Ltd, LOFTS, and Essendon Quarries. Congratulations, Arthur, on an incredible 40 years at Boral!

We're transforming solar panels into concrete sand for major roads! 🌍 Boral is proud to announce the trial of a new recycled sand for concrete, using crushed glass from end-of-life and damaged solar panels. This innovative product, known as solar glass sand, has been specifically made for use in Victoria’s North East Link project, the largest-ever infrastructure investment in Melbourne’s north-east. Our solar glass sand is an environmentally sustainable alternative to traditional sand, a natural diminishing resource essential to the building and construction industry. This innovation was driven by the Spark North East Link Tunnels D&C Joint Venture, with support from the University of Melbourne. Boral sourced the glass from Elecsome Pty Ltd., Australian's first solar panel upcycling plant, and processed it to blend with up to 50% natural sand. We have created various concrete mixes using this solar glass sand and have successfully laid a trial concrete slab on our Bulleen Concrete Plant site. Dr Ali Nezhad, Head of Sustainability and Innovation at Boral, said “we’re excited to be leading the development of concrete mixes containing solar glass sand, an innovative new product that will be used in Victoria’s biggest project in history. Our solar glass sand concrete trial demonstrates the ability and strength of reusing materials to create a circular economy.” Stay tuned for more updates on our trial, and read more about this initiative: https://lnkd.in/giHPgQ8M #Sustainability #Innovation #CircularEconomy #Concrete #Construction #Boral #NorthEastLink
