Western Sydney Plant 2 | The JC Steele 120 extruder  The extrusion process at Plant 2 involves a continuous journey of clay from the second pug mill through a vacuum chamber into the JC Steele 120 extruder.  This innovative extruder, capable of processing 120 tonnes of clay per hour, exceeds the previous Plants capabilities of 90T per hour. The technology, exclusive to Brickworks, is a global innovation, producing an output equivalent to crafting 40,000 standard bricks per hour.  Below is a first look at our JC Steele 120 extruder. Our Western Sydney Plant 2 facility marks a new era of efficiency, productivity, improved product quality and sustainability for Brickworks. Plant 2 produces over 115 million bricks per annum, which equates to 15,500 new homes every year. Plant 2 operates 24/7, 365 days per year, and is one of Australia’s most efficient and technologically advanced brick factories. We would like to extend our appreciation and thanks to all collaborators, staff and stakeholders who helped make this project a success.
