🏆2023 Hostplus Cup Premiers The Brisbane Tigers are a rugby league club based at Totally Workwear Stadium, Langlands Park. Established in 1933, we are a community based, not-for-profit club who competed in the Brisbane Rugby League from 1934 to 1996. We currently compete in the Queensland Rugby League’s premier state-wide female and male competitions, the Hostplus Cup and BMD Premiership. We are a part of the Eastern Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club Incorporation.

  • Rhett Tronc Signs as Brisbane Tigers BMD Premiership Head Coach The Brisbane Tigers are excited to announce the appointment of Rhett Tronc as the Head Coach of the BMD Premiership squad. Tronc brings extensive experience, and a robust skill set that aligns well with the Club’s vision and growth of the Women’s programs. Tronc has a proven track record in high-performance coaching and has held key roles across several clubs, including recent positions with the Redcliffe Dolphins and Norths Devils in the Hostplus Cup. His time with the Norths Devils was particularly impactful, contributing to their 2021 and 2022 premiership wins and establishing a strong team culture. His coaching style is both motivational and strategic, focusing on developing players' technical, tactical, and mental skills. Tronc said that working with Rohan Smith and the Norths Devils coaching team has been a highlight in his coaching career. “The combined expertise of the coaches, brilliant support staff, and some truly exceptional players—both on and off the field—created an environment that fostered success and personal growth,” Tronc said. “Together, we achieved some remarkable results, and those experiences continue to shape my approach to building strong, cohesive teams and nurturing talent.” Tronc said he has a long-standing connection with the Tigers, having coached the Club’s Mal Meninga side in 2017, and is excited to be in a position to give back. “I see this as a unique opportunity not only for the playing group to excel but also for their personal growth, both on and off the field. Bringing my experience into the women's program to help shape a pathway that fosters their full potential is incredibly motivating,” Tronc said. “I look forward to embracing the challenges ahead and building a program that supports individual development and team success at every level.”

This partnership, spanning the 2025-2027 seasons, will bolster Carina's position as a central hub for junior representative and academy programs, providing players with a clear path from grassroots to elite-level competition. The agreement aligns both clubs' strategic priorities, creating opportunities for mutual growth and fostering a strong community presence. As part of this initiative, Brisbane Tigers are thrilled to introduce Ben Cross as the new Head of Football and BRL A Grade Coach for the Carina Junior Rugby League Club. Cross brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to fostering talent, leadership, and high-performance culture across all levels of rugby league. Key Objectives of the Partnership: Talent Development and Pathways: Establish Carina Junior Rugby League as the base for Brisbane Tigers’ Junior Representative and Academy programs, enabling seamless progression from youth to senior levels.   • EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – Pathways Strength & Conditioning Coaches We’re currently accepting expressions of interests from Strength & Conditioning Coaches who are interested in leading the physical preparation of our Junior Representative teams; ·       Cyril Connell Cup (male) ·       Mal Meninga Cup (male) ·       Harvey Norman U17’s (female) ·       Harvey Norman U19’s (female) The successful candidates will have a minimum of; ·       ASCA Level 1 qualifications ·       Current First Aid & CPR Certificates ·       Current Queensland WWCC (Blue Card) ·       Sports Trainer & League safe qualifications are desired but not essential Our Pathways Strength & Conditioning Coaches will lead the design and delivery of the physical preparation program for their respective squads, including the design and delivery of strength, power, speed, agility & conditioning programs. The role will also require the coach to work collaboratively with the Club Physiotherapist’s to facilitate the end stage rehabilitation process including the modification & delivery of strength, speed & conditioning programs. At the Brisbane Tigers we value the coaching pathway and aim to provide opportunities for staff to grow & develop, mirroring the opportunities provided to players. These roles are supported by the Performance Manager & Hostplus Cup Performance Staff, including regular check in’s, feedback opportunities & resources. The ideal candidates work well in fast paced environments, have the ability to work collaboratively with internal & external stakeholders, have a philosophy on physical preparation, be open to feedback. We see these roles as an exciting first step for someone looking to begin a career in Strength & Conditioning in the greatest game of all Rugby League. These positions are honorarium based with the potential for future employment at the Brisbane Tigers.
