We are pleased to be working with binderholz group on our mass timber Chalet project in Perisher Valley. Certainly the teams’ technical capacity and evident passion is an asset to the project, and our partnership has been an enjoyable journey! We dropped in on our recent-ish CLT commercial addition project at the legendary Rhythm Snowsports (IYKYK) and snapped these quick photos. The space is quite flexible, currently it's being utilised as a bike workshop but also includes a yoga studio. The additional GFA is critical to support Rhythm's sprawling and much-loved commitment to the best equipment for the great outdoors. The floors were so loved that they decided to keep the timber exposed!! (nice one, XLam!) What do you think?

𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴? At an elevation of 1,720m, Caruthers Chalet on Front Valley at Perisher Ski Resort is susceptible to some of Australia’s harshest weather conditions. Not only does a building here need to withstand temperatures between -14 and +30 degrees celsius throughout the year, we can actually only build between October and May, due to the project site being covered in snow during Australia’s winter season! The speed of construction achievable using cross laminated timber made this product an obvious choice for Caruthers Chalet. In this video, you can see the project at blockwork stage. ✨ Australian Timber Design Awards 2024, Rising Star! ✨ We are incredibly proud of our colleague and friend, Sarah Shearman, for being named Rising Star at the Australian Timber Design Awards last week. Pictured is Andy Knight accepting the Award on Sarah's behalf. Sarah took this one away for her project-critical work on our recent River project in regional NSW. The stunning interiors in this mass timber home are testament to the hard work, tenacity and impeccable taste that Sarah pours into every project. We are truly grateful to be a part of her career journey. For those of you playing along at home, yes, this is the second year in a row our team has taken away this award, following ✨ Austin Reed's 2023 win ✨ for his work on our Mountains project. MASS TIMBER BATHROOM PODS // Excited to hear industry's thoughts on our latest endeavour: timber bathroom pods! Most thrillingly for us is that the walls form a part of the building's structure, providing bracing advantages and minimising material requirements. We have so many notes for version two, but really happy with how these turned out in our current Duplex project.
