About us

Bundaberg Regional Council was formed on the 15 March 2008 as a result of the merging of Bundaberg City Council, Burnett Shire, Isis Shire and Kolan Shire Councils. Bundaberg Region, strategically situated at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef and stretching from the Burrum River to Baffle Creek, is comprised of 6,451 sq km and is home to more than 94,000 people, with our population expected to grow to over 141,000 people within 25 years. Collectively, we are renowned for the friendliness of our residents, superb climate, affordable cost of living, first-class facilities, and relaxed lifestyle. Bundaberg's coastal region provides unsurpassed fishing, diving, beach and boating activities - these taking place against the backdrop of a rich sugar and horticultural belt. We enjoy close access to a number of seaside villages, stretching form Buxton and Woodgate Beach in the south, through to Coonarr, Elliott Heads, Coral Cove, Innes Park, Bargara, Burnett Heads and Moore Park Beach. Stroll along sandy stretches of beach, enjoy safe swimming year round, or discover the peace and tranquility of our beautiful seaside destinations. While Bundaberg is the commercial enterprise capital of the region, there are a vast range of visitor experiences and opportunities for new and current residents, within a short distance. At the region's southern gateway is the town of Childers, featuring the peaceful vibrancy of a provincial centre overlooking rolling hills of sugar, small crops and small industry. Similarly, the northern highway town of Gin Gin tells a fascinating historic tale with a genuine bush spirit, including the chance for freshwater fishing and weekend country escapes. Residents and visitors enjoy the spectacular natural landscape that forms Bundaberg region. The Bundaberg region is rapidly progressing to be a destination of choice - for residents, visitors and investors. https://www.bundaberg.qld.gov.au/council/social-media-terms-use

  • We were proud to be awarded the inaugural Yellow Ribbon Excellence Award for Council's ground-breaking road safety work over the past 12 months. The Yellow Ribbon Excellence Award is presented by the National Transport Research Organisation (NTRO) and Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) Group to organisations which show excellence in road safety. We made the important step of introducing a Network Safety Plan to make our road network safer. With road trauma starting to rise nationally for the first time in two decades, road safety – and particularly how to combat rising road fatalities and serious injuries – is in the spotlight. Local governments control more than 75% of roads in Australia, and almost 45% of deaths occur on roads managed by Councils Australia-wide. Tapping into ways to make local roads safer is an important part of reducing deaths and serious injuries on our roads. Network Safety Plans assist Councils to prioritise investment to ensure the safest road network can be delivered within existing funding constraints. Read more: https://lnkd.in/g-594N8z

  • A recently completed upgrade to Foley’s Road in Childers has resulted in safer travel for road users and reduced maintenance costs for Council.   Our Childers Civil Works construction crew appreciated the challenge of being involved in a project of this size.   Seeing the result compared to what the road looked like before is a credit to the crew who not only achieved the required finish but overcame significant wet weather challenges.
