  • A picture tells a thousand words …and these pictures say works are progressing at a rapid rate at Goodman’s Oakdale East Industrial Estate, as Burton Contractors transform the site of an old brick plant and quarry into a significant industrial precinct that will service the people of Sydney for generations to come. With the help of Mulgoa Quarries, our site team recently completed work on two development pads; which will be used to support the future facilities.  We are fast approaching completion on a further two. Work also continues on the project’s utilities scope, stormwater, road pavements and bio-retention sedimentary basins. Well done to everyone involved  on this impressive site and we look forward to continuing to track its progress over the next few months.

Strong problem solving skills, coupled with critical thinking are the keys to success as a civil engineer, according to Claudia Macri. At the Withers, Barry and Hezlett Road Project with Burton Contractors, every day she is using these attributes as a valued member of the site team as she continues to gain hands on experience. Claudia is approaching two years with the organisation and within that time, has had to juggle her university commitments as an undergraduate while expertly fulfilling her responsibilities on site. Read more about Claudia’s story, including her experiences on site, future aspirations and advice for other young professionals in the construction industry. https://lnkd.in/gD6byB-J

  • Our Project Team at North Kellyville are at a crossroads… … which explains why our night shift crews have been busy replacing up to 350 square metres of existing asphalt across three key intersections at Hezlett, Withers and Barry Road. The intersection upgrades are part of the project’s wider scope to upgrade the area’s existing road infrastructure, enhancing local connectivity for residents and public transport users. The upgrades will also enable future growth and development for the North Kellyville area and support Sydney’s predicted population growth. We’re looking forward to showing off the finished product over the coming months.

Burton Contractors have recently hit an important project milestone at our South Street site in Marsden Park. Over a five-month period, the project team have successfully completed the site's earthworks component with road pavement and utilities still to come. In a recent sod-turning ceremony hosted by Dexus, it was announced that the site would house an eight-unit industrial estate which would provide more than 47,000 square metres of gross lettable area. Burton Contractors are proud to continue to play a vital role in developing sites in Sydney’s Northwest Priority Growth Area.

This week, Burton Contractors acknowledged R U OK Day by hosting separate barbecues across each of our sites to emphasise the importance of checking in on our colleagues, mates and family by asking one simple question, ‘are you okay?’ By commenting on the changes you’ve noticed, and asking someone, ‘are you okay’ you could help that person open up. At the very least, if that person is in fact okay, they’ll appreciate that you cared enough to ask. At our Oakdale East site, special guest speaker, Daniel Merza encouraged us to ‘get the monkeys off your back’. Daniel shared practical strategies for taking control of our mental health and breaking down the barriers that prevent us from opening up. Importantly, we need to remind ourselves that every day is R U OK Day and Burton Contractors are committed to promoting positive mental health in the workplace not just on R U OK Day, but on all 365 days of the year.

It's a new dawn for pedestrian safety in Riverstone... Burton Contractors has recently completed improvement works at three key junctions along Garfield Road East. The upgrades include new footpaths, pram ramps, bollards and bus stops on one of Riverstone's busiest roads. Offering convenient and safe crossing facilities for wheelchair users and parents with prams, the pedestrian upgrades will also improve accessibility to public transport while promoting a more organised flow of traffic. Congratulations to all Burton Contractors staff who have worked tirelessly to complete this important community project.
