Each year, around 1,815 women in Australia are diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer is challenging to detect early because there is no screening test, and symptoms can often be vague or similar to those of other common illnesses. As a result, most cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage, making treatment more difficult. Being aware of your body and recognising the symptoms of ovarian cancer is crucial. January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. Cervical cancer is one of the few cancers that can be successfully screened for. The National Cervical Screening Program reduces illness and death from cervical cancer. If you have a cervix, are aged 25-74 years, have at any time been sexually active, you are invited to have a cervical screening test every five years through your healthcare provider.
