  • Capire was in Canberra last week to deliver the Youth Hackathon on behalf of Youthgovau. It was great working with young people, including some who’d travelled thousands of km's, to explore ideas to address pressing policy problems for Australia. Together, we worked with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, the Australian Government Department of Education and the National Emergency Management Agency to develop problem statements that reflected real challenges for regional, rural and remote communities across Australia. We look forward to seeing the outcomes of this work in the year to come.

They implement engagement strategies, build client relationships, write proposals, and hone their skills in engagement practice, facilitation and project management. We are looking for people who are highly motivated, excellent communicators, good at solving problems and juggling multiple tasks. • We’re sharing this fundraiser for one of our clients, who sadly passed away from breast cancer. Capire worked with Gem Boucher on the Level Crossing Removal Project. She was a great client and a beautiful person, who will be dearly missed. We extend our deepest sympathy to Gem’s family and friends. If you can, please donate to help fund breast cancer research: https://lnkd.in/gihmNXec

  • ❤️💛🖤 To move forward as a country, Australia first needs to acknowledge the deep wounds of our history and to honour the traditions, cultures and wisdom of our nation’s First Peoples. Capire supports Australia’s journey to reconciliation as expressed in the Uluru Statement from the Heart, which calls for Voice, Treaty and Truth. For many Australians, 26 January is a day of mourning. Until we find a more inclusive date to celebrate, Capire staff are welcome to take the public holiday on a different day.

  • 🌟 Last year, we welcomed Melissa Hagedorn as our Queensland-based Client Executive! With 15+ years’ experience in community engagement, communications and service design, Mel has worked across all tiers of government, as well as the not-for-profit and corporate sectors. Her first engagement project was helping to implement the first braille ballot paper for the 2008 QLD Election (still one of her favourites!). More recently, Mel’s work has focused on improving digital engagement practices across Australia and New Zealand. At Capire, she is dedicated to supporting the company's expansion into new sectors, states and territories, while ensuring the continued delivery of exceptional services to our clients. Mel is an IAP2A Board Member and a proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander woman with ties to Northern Australia. “I am currently on a learning journey to understand my cultural customs and norms. Unfortunately, like many my age, my grandparents never taught us our cultural ways for fear of us being taken away, just like them. I am also keen on Australia learning all of Australia's histories, as I believe this will enrich our country, rather than divide it.”
