It’s Australia’s biggest corruption scandal: $300 million funnelled to a notorious dictator via dodgy wheat contracts in the lead up to the Iraq War. We are proud to sponsor a new podcast, Secrets We Keep – Baghdad Nights, presented by award-winning journalist Richard Baker. Airing from next Tuesday, the podcast takes you inside the scandal with the help of three wheat salesmen caught in the middle of extraordinary world events. Were they cowboys who pocketed millions for their company? Scapegoats for a government stuff up? Or something in between... Listen to the trailer: https://lnkd.in/g-mkvRyw

CASSA President 2023/2024 • ECU CyberSec Student

It was wonderful leading CASSA as the Club President from July 2023. Recently, we held our Annual General Meeting, where we elected a brand new Executive Committee and discussed the goals we’ve kicked together in the past year. Today marks the official executive handover, where I have stepped down from my position after a year. The General Committee was a large part in improving CASSA over the past year. There’s lots to talk about, but I’d like to highlight Jarod R. and his mum’s work on the Constitution and becoming a non-profit, Firdaus Hairul Annuar and Adelia Widyasari’s work on our socials and marketing, and Rebecca Condon’s superb work informing our members about all the computing and security events, helping members and increasing our visibility. Thanks so much to the GC! I also have to thank my colleagues in the Executive Committee. Alexander Hill, Winiata Lambert, Sean Macmillan, Memphis Marshall, and Ekaterina Grabovskaya - you were all fantastic to work with and I appreciate all the time and knowledge you have poured in to grow the club. Winiata, your work is remarkable, there are so many things you have created and contributed to during your time as an exec. I don’t think I’ll ever figure out how you managed to balance so much at once without hesitation haha. Thank you all! Thank you Karina Price, Dr Michelle Ellis, Paul Haskell-Dowland, and the ECU Student Guild (particularly Syed Taqi) for your generous support to the club. Also thanks to our new sponsors who are making some long awaited projects possible: Atlassian, McGrathNicol, and Canva. And most importantly, cheers to all the members who took part in the club, who made it possible for us to run this club and for those who trusted me in keeping things afloat. 😄 I’d like to warmly welcome our new Executive Committee with Devansh Trivedi as President 🍻 Photo from the AGM kindly taken by Karina
