💪🏽🌏 Climate Action Week Sydney 2025 – Expression of Interest Now Open! 🌏💪🏽 After the incredible success of CAW.SYD.24 — with 115 events across 50 venues and over 6,300 attendees — we’re thrilled to announce that the Expression of Interest is open for CAW.SYD.25! CAW.SYD.25 is a community-led program of events designed to inspire and empower climate action through education, collaboration, and innovation. This is your opportunity to host an event and join a growing movement to rapidly reduce emissions, remove emissions, drive resilience, and adapt to climate change. 🗓 Dates: March 10-16, 2025 📍 Location: Anywhere in Greater Sydney: North to the Hawkesbury River, South to the Royal National Park, East to the Pacific Ocean and West to the Blue Mountains. Events range from: ❇️ Keynote/Panels/Fireside chats ❇️ Interactive/Workshop/Debate ❇️ Film/video/Performances ❇️ Exhibitions/Markets Climate Action Week Sydney (CAW.SYD) empowers individuals, organisations and groups to independently host events while leveraging our mission, platform, and brand. From industry to government, schools to community leaders, and entrepreneurs to investors—this is a call for collective climate action across Sydney’s diverse ecosystem. Those were the words of The Hon. Matt Kean at the fundraiser and launch of Climate Action Week Sydney 2025 last night. After the huge impact made by CAWSYD24, with 📅 115 events, 📣 6,300 attendees, and 👀 1.6m impressions from around the world, we couldn't be more excited double down and create an even larger impact next year. As our MC last night Liz Courtney said: "In Australia, this is the time. This is the time to act." Australia has been ranked one of the world’s worst climate wreckers by the UN's 2024 Sustainable Development Report. Australia received one of the lowest scores for ‘climate action’ – ranking fourth-last out of the 168 countries that were scored in the report. This is largely due to us being a major fossil fuel exporter. This shocking result underscores the urgent need to slash climate pollution. As the sunniest and one of the windiest countries in the world, we have everything we need to power past coal and gas and rocket up the rankings as a clean energy superpower.

🌏 💪🏽 💚 Climate Action Simulation using Climate Interactive's EN-Roads simulator! I had the honour of engaging with over 400 AGSM @ UNSW Business School MBA alumni last week during their annual Professional Forum with Michele Roberts. The approach we took was to initially present some information about the current state of greenhouse gas emissions in the world, positive information about the changes that are happening, and also the reality that we need to take a lot more #climateaction quickly. We then asked the audience to find people they had not yet collaborated with and get into groups of six... not easy in a giant events room where all the chairs are in nice rows! ... needless to say, the uniform rows of chairs quickly morphed into small semi-circle clusters! and conversations began. Each group was then given an exercise to complete to address the following goals: 👉🏽 Limit global warming to within the Paris Agreement targets ... whilst 👉🏽 Preserving a healthy global economy 💰 👉🏽 Promoting equity and a just transition 👨👨👧👦 👉🏽 Protecting nature and the natural environment 🌊 🐬 🌴 🐒 We then ran the results of each group through the Climate Interactive simulation to show the impacts of the recommendations of select groups to show what would happen to emissions, GDP, biodiversity, ocean acidification, air pollution, market price of electricity, government tax revenue and subsidy expense and many more impacts. I am pleased to announce that the high calibre team of multi-disciplinary MBA graduates came together to create a pathway that met all our goals 💥 🎤 ⤵ If you would like to run a session like this for your team or organisation please reach out to me.
