Rachel Clements shares her insights with HR Daily on how psychological safety during dismissals can protect wellbeing and reduce risk. Employers are increasingly engaging psychologists to prevent psychosocial harm during termination processes. While risks like delivering bad news can't be avoided, carefully managed support, such as psychologists guiding leaders and providing immediate follow-up, can significantly minimise harm. In the article, Rachel highlights the financial and human costs of neglecting psychological safety, reinforcing that proactive care during dismissals is both a legal obligation and a vital investment in employee wellbeing. Violence against women remains a serious and pervasive issue in Australia. In 2024 alone, a woman in Australia is killed by men’s violence every four days. This staggering reality has prompted the issue to be declared a national crisis. Workplaces are uniquely positioned to be part of the solution by providing critical support, fostering safe environments, and driving meaningful societal change. As we celebrate International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the beginning of the United Nations international campaign, 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, it’s a time to raise awareness about the prevalence of violence against women and the crucial role workplaces play in creating supportive and psychologically safe environments where disclosures can occur, and employees can receive effective support and refuge. #ViolenceAgainstWomen #NoExcuse #16Days #16DaysOfActivism

Imagine a world that is diverse, equitable and inclusive. Imagine a workplace that is free of biases, stereotypes and discrimination. This week marks Inclusion at Work Week, an annual celebration of diversity and inclusion in Australian workplaces. Beyond just being buzzwords, diversity and inclusion are powerful catalysts for creating workplaces where employees have a sense of belonging, feel respected and valued, and can contribute, grow, and succeed. Creating inclusive cultures that embrace various perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds fosters innovation, enhances problem-solving, and creates an environment that supports collaboration and wellbeing. #InclusionAtWorkWeek
