Our 2024 field season as a part of the Camposanto Bioarchaeology Project wrapped up last week! The season was largely successful with the complete #excavation of a single #massgrave containing 42 articulated and discrete individuals... this was a bit of a jump from the 8 individuals we went into the season expecting! Dye to this the team had to be largely flexible with the season's scheduled plan and adapted well to some challenging excavation conditions. As we begin post-season #analysis this week back at The University of Western Australia we will keep you updated with the results from the season!

Congratulations to Maddison Bourke for being awarded on her PhD research last Friday at the Forensic Forum!
A slightly belated post but was very excited and honoured to be awarded “Highly Commended Oral Presentation” at the Australian & New Zealand Forensic Science Society (ANZFSS) - WA Branch Forensic Forum last Friday. I presented some preliminary findings from my PhD, amongst a varied scientific program covering all aspects of forensic science. It’s been a few months of work putting together this event along with the rest of the organising committee and was great to see everything come together on the day!

Today I presented some more of my PhD research at the Forensic Science Forum organised by Australian & New Zealand Forensic Science Society (ANZFSS) - WA Branch. It summarises my work already published on skeletal sex estimation from the pelvis, specific to the Indonesian population. I also had the opportunity to listen to other early-career forensic practitioners speak on their respective works spanning fields including ballistics and explosives, DNA, and quality assurance and control. What an amazing time to be involved with the advancement of forensic science in Perth!
