CCIWA is excited to share that our legal practice Business Law WA (BLWA) obtained the Quality Practice Standards accreditation for a fifth consecutive year. BLWA is one of 42 law firms in WA to secure the certification. To hold QPS certification a legal practice is required to demonstrate that its processes exceed legislative requirements, with a focus on consistency and a client-focused approach. “While this is an optional accreditation, it is aimed at ensuring legal compliance and maximising the customer experience,” says BLWA Group Legal Director Ryan Martin. “As the legal practice for a member-based organisation in CCIWA, BLWA views we should be aiming above industry standard.” Learn more about Business Law WA > https://loom.ly/QvfS-t0 #CCIWA #BusinessLaw #Legal

As seen in today’s The West Australian, CCIWA continues to call for several key provisions in the Federal Government’s ‘Secure Jobs, Better Pay’ Act to be overturned. In our policy submission for a review of the Act, we proposed changes to Australia’s workplace relations system that will encourage and support job creation, deliver flexibility for both employers and employees, promote productivity and economic growth, and remain simple and practical. We were proud to recently recognise one of our most longstanding Members, Federal Tinware Manufacturing Pty Ltd (Fedco), on more than 100 years of Membership with the chamber. The company joined on August 1, 1920, making their commitment to the chamber extraordinary. Representing the company at a recent event to mark the milestone were Director James Perry and his wife, Beth Perry. James' grandfather, CA Perry, was President of the WA Chamber of Manufacturers from 1931 to 1935. The WA Chamber of Manufacturers was one of the six business associations that merged to form CCIWA. "Your family's legacy and dedication to the industry are truly inspiring," CCIWA President Nicki Ivory said. "Thank you for your continued partnership and for being an integral part of our community." CCIWA welcomes the release of the WA Government’s Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) Action Plan, which aligns with many of the recommendations from our report 'Capturing our Future: Why Carbon Capture is critical to Australia's Energy Transition'. As Western Australia's peak for industry, we are ready to work with the Government to support delivering the action items identified in the plan. The plan aims to enhance policy certainty, attract further investment into the State, and accelerate the deployment of proven technology and infrastructure – leveraging WA's existing infrastructure, highly skilled workforce and suitable geological formations. It also supports the development of new and emerging CCUS technology. The Government has also committed $26 million towards two CCUS projects in the Pilbara and Mid West.
