What an amazing night we had last night at IPA’s Retail Excellence Gala Dinner! It was great connecting with many of our franchisee partners and team members from around Australia. This event celebrated exceptional individual performance across community pharmacy, and we are so proud to announce that two of our Chemist Discount Centre in-store team members were selected as Retail Excellence Award winners out of over 1000 pharmacies in the Independent Pharmacies Australia (IPA) network. ⭐ Service Excellence Award: Jakki Begley, CDC Patterson Lakes  ⭐ Rising Star Award: Taylah Driesson, CDC Warragul Jakki’s customer-centric approach shines through her strategic focus on the customer experience. We're proud to announce that 3 Chemist Discount Centre (CDC) pharmacies are participating in Independent Pharmacies Australia (IPA)'s Point of Care Testing (POCT) Health Check pilot program, being run in partnership with Axe Health Services. The team at Chemist Discount Centre Endeavour Hills jumped at the chance to participate in the pilot, which allows them to offer customers quick and convenient health checks in-store. Using a simple finger-prick blood sample, patients can have their cholesterol levels and long-term diabetes control checked with lipid panel and HbA1c readings. The process takes about 15 minutes, providing customers with immediate results and the opportunity to discuss them with trained pharmacists. This service empowers individuals to take proactive steps towards managing their health. Vedrana 'Ved' Djurkovic is the Professional Services Manager and pharmacist at Endeavour Hills. She says, “POCT has been a fantastic addition to the services we offer our customers at CDC Endeavour Hills. It’s empowering for both our team and the community. People can get important health insights within minutes, which can make a real difference in their lives. Making these tests more accessible has definitely uncovered hidden health issues for our customers. Allowing them to take action and take these results to their doctors, and it's incredibly rewarding." 28-year-old Daniel is a local customer who accepted the health check offer at his local CDC. He says the point-of-care testing for lipids and HbA1c at his local pharmacy was quick and easy, and the relaxed environment made it even better. At 28, it's not something he would typically go to a doctor for, but the convenience of having the test in the pharmacy allowed him to take control of his health and get it done on his own terms. We'd like to extend a big CONGRATULATIONS to all our 2024 interns who have recently passed their exams and completed their registration hours. Newly registered pharmacist Anam (pictured below with Pharmacist in Charge Natasha) has just completed her internship with Chemist Discount Centre Wallan. Proprietor and preceptor Bi You says having an intern is like having a "dose of fresh blood in the pharmacy" as it allows the other pharmacists constant opportunities to revisit and refresh their knowledge on medications and health conditions as they guide their intern. A Chemist Discount Centre internship has proven to be a good choice for Anam. In addition to standard dispensing and patient counselling duties, she's had opportunities to provide vaccinations, work with a state-of-the-art dispensing robot, and deliver an NDIS service that is highly valued by the Wallan community. As part of her training, Anan completed Independent Pharmacies Australia (IPA)'s InternLab program and describes the program as her "guiding platform" for her internship and exam preparation. Wishing Anam and all our other recently registered pharmacists the very best for 2025. An exciting future as a pharmacist is ahead 🌟
