Today, the Interim Commissioner released the report 'Somewhere safe to go - Young people's experiences of leaving detention’, sharing the views of young people with recent lived experience of the Tasmanian youth justice system. This report highlights what it’s like for young people to leave detention, including how young people may feel upon release, and the importance of ongoing support after leaving detention. This report has been published as part of the Voices of Young People in the Youth Justice System Project. Up to $15,000 is available to support young people who have experienced out-of-home care, helping them chase their education and career dreams. Open to students undertaking undergraduate study in any bachelor's degree, University Preparation Program, or Diploma of University Studies at the University of Tasmania in Semester 1, 2025.
