Cisco can lay claim to being a major architect of the digital age. The networking equipment giant still routes about 85% of the world's internet traffic. But it is not the string of successes that drives Chair and CEO Chuck Robbins to lead in the Age of AI. It was a rare miss — the cloud revolution. "We were never going to miss one again," Robbins said. "We were never going to deny a transition was happening." Meeting this moment required a rapid rethink. It meant bringing on people with a new skill set and giving "smart people" the leeway to get things done. Even sending the board to an AI bootcamp — "They asked," Robbins said. "They want to ask more intelligent questions."
