  • We’re still basking in the glow of our spectacular Elizabeth Quay fireworks.   What a fantastic start to 2025 ✨   A show as good as that doesn’t happen without a lot of hard work from some amazing people.   From our events team who put on the show to our operations crew who cleaned up the next day. Not to mention our safety team who managed the crowds and Cardile Fireworks, Carnival Amusements, CBRE and our precinct partner DevelopmentWA, who all played a part in making the night such a success.   And of course none of it could have happened without the generous support from our principal partner Roy Hill.   We look forward to bringing you another fantastic show next year in the City of Light.

  • Get your walking shoes on and pump those tyres, there’s a new way to walk or cycle into the City with the opening of the Boorloo Bridge. Perth’s newest landmark is now open, with its impressive Whadjuk Nyoongar inspired cable-stayed design stretching from Victoria Park over Heirisson Island to the City’s east end. The Bridge was jointly funded by the Australian and WA Governments, with works undertaken by the Causeway Link Alliance. The City worked closely with the Alliance and its stakeholders to support the Bridge’s approval and program of works, including driving the inclusion of over 500 new trees as part of the project, and securing an additional 300 trees for planting on Heirisson Island and nearby areas. We also supported the renewal of connected paths so you can easily and safely make your way into the City. With its impressive light display, the Bridge is another wonderful addition to our #CityofLight

  • We’ve tabled the data, and we’re thrilled to report our Plateful Perth program was a resounding success! 🎉 Sixty-six City-based hospitality businesses took part in the curated program. 78% of total events were sold, with eight events and 11 experiences completely selling out, and five offers exceeded booking targets. A big thank you from us to all the incredible businesses who contributed to the success of Plateful Perth 2024. We can’t wait to share what we have planned for Plateful 2025!

  • The City of Perth is delighted to welcome the Omega Boutique to the City of Perth! Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas and CEO Michelle Reynolds were honoured to preview the store’s stunning collection of luxury Swiss watches, sunglasses, fine jewellery, and accessories – perhaps the perfect timeless Christmas gift for that special someone? The City is excited to see more renowned luxury brands choosing Murray Street as their home, following the footsteps of Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Fendi, to name just a few. With our luxury shopping strip firmly established, we look forward to seeing the City of Perth evolve into an iconic global shopping destination.

A merry Sunday by the Bay never sounded so good! Yesterday saw Matilda Bay jam packed with festive cheer thanks to the good vibes and tunes of Sunset Sounds. 🎶🎄 As the sunset settled into the Derbarl Yerrigan / Swan River, concert goers enjoyed free gelato and food truck fare, backed by the tunes of These Galahs. The free concert was proudly delivered by Western Residents Inc in partnership with the City. Sunset Sounds will be back in February – mark your calendars, grab your picnic rug and join the fun! >> https://lnkd.in/gYkqXRVF With Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas, Deputy Lord Mayor Cr Bruce Reynolds, and Councillors Clyde Bevan (Friends Restaurant), Cr Liam Gobbert JP and Steve Wellard, and our CEO Michelle Reynolds.

  • What will Perth be in 2036? Rewind 30 years and you’ll find a Perth with no Cathedral Square or Elizabeth Quay. You’ll step out of the central bus station to a Wellington Street with no Perth City Link, Yagan Square or ECU campus under construction. This morning we joined our key City stakeholders at Council House in welcoming returning global urban strategy and design firm, Gehl, for the next phase of Perth’s transformation. Gehl’s previous studies in Perth in 1994 and 2009 were instrumental in shaping Perth and the liveable public spaces that we enjoy today. With many more residents and students set to call Central Perth home by 2036 thanks to the coming ECU campus, Gehl’s Henriette Vamberg gave an enlightening talk on how their new study will deliver new actionable insights for our city. We’re excited to again work with Gehl, and our stakeholders, to deliver an even more liveable and sustainable City of Light as we look towards 2036 and beyond. • The City of Perth proudly hosted the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Function at Council House, celebrating the invaluable contributions of our iCity volunteers. Since its establishment in 2001 with only 20 volunteers, the iCity Visitors Service has grown into a team of 65 dedicated individuals, all playing a key role in welcoming visitors to the City. This year’s event featured a powerful keynote address by Flight Lieutenant Sue Freeman (RAAF fighter pilot and flight instructor), whose inspiring words left the audience riveted. A highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates by Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas, honoring long-serving volunteers for their outstanding years of service and invaluable contributions to the City. To all our volunteers, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to making the City of Perth a warm and welcoming destination for everyone. 💗

  • We wrapped up West Tech Fest last week with a Customer Roundtable at Council House, a collaboration between Founders Factory and the City of Perth! 🌟 Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas kicked off the event with an inspiring welcome address, setting the tone for a day of innovation and connection. The Lord Mayor was thrilled to invite Founders Factory Co-Founder/President, George Northcott and COO, Damian Routley to Council House, applauding them for choosing the City of Perth as the home of Founders Factory Western Australia. The event brought together an impressive lineup of industry leaders and innovators from mining giants Rio Tinto, BHP and Fortescue, plus energy sector leaders Woodside and BP. Other key players included CBH, Alcoa, Northern Star Resources and Pilbara Minerals, alongside promising overseas startups from the US, UK and Austria, as well as officials from the WA State Government. The room buzzed with energy as 12 exceptional pre-seed startups in Mining Tech and Nature Tech delivered lightning pitches to an audience of potential corporate venture customers. These innovative companies showcased a range of groundbreaking solutions, from microbe-based metal extraction to sustainable crop production systems. It was inspiring to see potential partnerships taking shape right before our eyes. We can't wait to see how these relationships evolve and shape the future innovation within our key priority sectors. #CityofPerth #CityofLight #Innovation #Sustainability #MiningTech #NatureTech #FoundersFactory
