International Women’s Day was celebrated at the City of South Perth today with a morning tea and presentation to employees from the City’s Director Development & Community Services, Donna Shaw Donna shared her experience of being a female director and some of the challenges, and successes throughout her career. Discussing the IWD theme ‘Accelerating Action’, Donna highlighted some personal perspectives on the future path towards gender equality. A huge thank you to everyone who made last week’s WALGA Urban Forest Conference such a success! The City of South Perth was proud to play a key role, with our Director, Development and Community, Donna Shaw, leading the Elected Member Masterclass on tree retention through the planning system. This special session, hosted in partnership with the Perth Inner City Group, gave Local Government leaders practical tools and insights to protect and enhance urban tree canopies. It was inspiring to be part of a broader conversation alongside fantastic sessions from our neighbouring councils, covering everything from community-led urban forest strategies to innovative public open space design. 🌿
