More than 315,000 people have crossed the Kangaroo Point Bridge in just one month, helping us keep Brisbane moving. An average of more than 10,800 people a day have crossed the bridge since it opened, massively exceeding forecasts by more than 75 per cent.

  • 2025 is going to be another exciting year for Brisbane. We’ll kick-off the staged roll-out of turn-up-and-go Brisbane Metro services from 28 January. We'll deliver a big boost to our bus network to keep Brisbane moving. We’ll complete major congestion-busting and city shaping transport projects that will help you get home sooner and safer. And there will be more public transport services making it easier to leave the car at home. There's so much to look forward to as we continue to work hard to make Brisbane even better in 2025.

  • ⚠️ Heatwave Warning ⚠️ We're in for a few hot days, with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting heatwave conditions from Friday until Sunday. Make sure you keep an eye on people at risk in extreme heat conditions and take steps to stay cool. 🏡 Close windows, curtains, and blinds to keep the heat out of your home. 🌡️ If available, use a fan or set the air-conditioning to 24°C 🚰 Drink water regularly 🐶 Bring pets inside, ensure they have shelter and plenty of water. 💦 Take advantage of our $2 Summer Dips at council pools. 🏘 Check on your neighbours.

  • There’s a new plaza in town! 📣 Access to the City Botanic Gardens is now even better following the completion of the new Kangaroo Point Bridge plaza at the intersection of Edward and Alice streets. These improvements, along with the soon-to-be-opened Kangaroo Point Bridge will help people get around our city sooner and safer, and keep Brisbane moving.

Keeping Brisbane moving. ➡️➡️ Brisbane is one of Australia’s fastest growing cities and we need a long term vision to deliver better transport for a better Brisbane. Brisbane Metro will deliver rapid mass transit to more destinations and with all levels of government on board, we can expand it even further. The first stage of expansions includes 22 new stations, including: ⚡️North to Carseldine ⚡️South to Springwood ⚡️East to Capalaba ⚡️the Brisbane Airport We now have the support of all three levels of government, including David Crisafulli, to deliver the first stage of an expansion to our Brisbane Metro bus rapid transit system. This is just the first stage of expansions with opportunities to supercharge services, to more places, more often in the future. ⚡️

The Kangaroo Point Bridge won’t just be one of our city’s most recognisable landmarks, it’ll help keep Brisbane moving too. The bridge is now 90% complete with the concrete deck now in place, laying the foundations for the first people to walk across it. This is the biggest investment in active transport in Brisbane’s history and will help take more than 84,000 cars off the road every year to help you get home sooner and safer. We've secured a landmark agreement with the State to deliver more bus services to more places, more often. 🚍 We made a commitment to you to keep Brisbane moving and that's precisely what this deal delivers. We need to make public transport services more frequent and the early introduction of Brisbane Metro, along with the additional services this agreement funds, ensures that happens. Stay tuned for the details soon...

Today we confirmed our plan to keep Brisbane moving forward. ➡️ We're delivering the biggest boost to public transport services in Brisbane's history and undertaking a global search for the world's best traffic management system. 🚍 We're bringing $2 Summer Dips back this December and making Brisbane's lifestyle even better with new parks and playgrounds.☀️ Importantly, we're doing all this while balancing our budget to put downward pressure on rates and rents. ⬇️
