City of Stirling Lifeguards competed at the 2025 Pool Lifeguard Challenge last week at the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre. The annual event, organised by Royal Life Saving - Western Australia, and proudly sponsored by LIWA Aquatics, brought together lifeguards from 17 aquatic facilities across Perth to compete in challenging scenarios designed to simulate real-life emergencies, reinforce critical safety skills, and foster collaboration among teams. Lifeguards demonstrated outstanding skill and resilience throughout the competition, receiving valuable feedback from judges to further enhance their techniques for real-life situations. Organisation of African Communities in WA Inc (OACWA) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting African communities in Western Australia, by offering a range of programs including outreach and mentoring for at-risk individuals. Over the weekend, the City proudly celebrated the official opening of the newly refurbished OACWA headquarters in Nollamara. The works included complete upgrades to the kitchen and toilets, the creation of a media room, a range of new equipment and greater accessibility throughout the property. There were also improvements to the main hall, meeting rooms, air-conditioning and lighting. These improvements, made possible thanks to funding from Lotterywest, WA Office of Multicultural Interests and the City of Stirling, ensure that they can continue providing these crucial services and support African people living in our community.
