It’s here! City of Moreton Bay's new garden organics (GO) collection service started this week. We have delivered approximately 122,000 bins in the initial rollout making it one of the largest bin rollouts in Australia! In November last year we announced the expansion of our existing general waste, recycling and commercial waste services to the City of Moreton Bay under a new contract for organics collections. The GO service for garden organics starts December 2024 and the plan is to transition to include both food organics and garden organics (FOGO) in Stage 2. Organic waste is among the most recoverable of waste types, and our service will go a long way to divert this waste stream from landfill and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. When FOGO collections are fully realised, our service will contribute towards City of Moreton Bay's Environment and Sustainability Strategy which includes the target of achieving net zero emissions by 2039. FOGO also aligns with City of Moreton Bay's regional waste management plans, Queensland's Organics Strategy 2022-2032 and Council's commitment to the SEQ Waste Management Plan. #sustainablefuture

Cleanaway Organics Eastern Creek (COEC), our food organics garden organics (FOGO) treatment facility in Western Sydney, is playing a key role in recovering resources from food waste, in line with government targets to halve the amount of organics going to landfill by 2030. FOGO sent for processing in facilities like Cleanaway Organics Eastern Creek is turned into compost that can be reused in agriculture, reducing the amount of harmful emissions from the organic material that would have otherwise decomposed in landfill. Learn more from Ash Turner, State Manager Resource Recovery, who has over 10 years of experience in the industry, in The Guardian’s deep dive into our FOGO processing capabilities and find out how you can contribute towards a sustainable future by sorting your waste correctly. #sustainablefuture https://lnkd.in/gWgJ8f79

Taku Ide, Head of Carbon at Cleanaway, recently spoke at the Alternative Fuel Summit about how HVO100 provides a pathway to real emissions reduction through our existing fleet. Hosted by Robert Cavicchiolo, Carbon Solutions Manager at Viva Energy Australia, they discussed the challenges and opportunities that renewable diesel presents and how a collaborative ecosystem in the market can work together to make HVO100 a viable option. “From a decarbonisation and emissions standpoint, diesel usage is locked in for the next 10 to 15 years because those assets (existing fleet) have a long lifespan. The challenge is finding ways to decarbonise while still relying on diesel assets today. The demonstration shows that renewable diesel can be this solution and we continue to work with customers, partners and government towards broader implementation.” Cleanaway’s fleet decarbonisation strategy, led by Jeroen Wassenaar, Head of Innovation, has demonstrated that HVO100 provides equivalent fuel consumption, uptime and performance to fossil diesel. Thanks to Victorian Transport Association - VTA for hosting the event. #sustainablefuture Read the article here: https://lnkd.in/gydv4yHN
