We recently attended the Research Launch Event for the WA Construction Industry Suicide and Mental Health Benchmarking Study, undertaken by MATES in Construction WA and The University of Western Australia’s Suicide Prevention and Resilience Research Centre.   Bringing together over 60 leading academics, MATES partners, and industry bodies and leaders, the event shared the findings of the group’s research, offering deeper insights into the current reality of mental health within the construction industry in WA. Largest continuous concrete pour to date ✅ The North East Link crew at the Trinity work site has completed the largest continuous concrete pour on project to date – and one of the largest in Boral’s history! The pour, which was for a tunnel roof slab, was completed over a 17-hour period with more than 2,300m3 of concrete – enough to nearly fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool. To create the roof slab, 800 tonnes of 1.75m thick reinforcing steel was also used. 🏗 Works commence on Dampier Bulk Handling Facility! The Dampier Bulk Handling Facility (DBHF) project team has mobilised to site, and work has commenced with the start of demolition of the current wharf. The new 200-metre wharf will be supported by a new berth pocket, which will be 280-metres-long and 13.2-metres-deep, with an 11-metre-deep vessel manoeuvring area. Clough is delivering the design and construction scope for Pilbara Ports’ new Dampier Bulk Handling Facility at the Port of Dampier, stage one of the overall Dampier Cargo Wharf Projects. The Port of Dampier is situated in the Pilbara region in the northwest of Western Australia and is predominantly utilised for the export of iron ore, LNG, salt and condensate. ⚡Energising the STEM leaders of tomorrow! We recently joined Curtin University's Girls+ Engineering Tomorrow (GET) Forum! This one-day event, engaged over 200 Year 9 to 10 girls and their teachers, giving them hands-on experiences in STEM and engineering through workshops and opportunities to meet and talk to industry role models. Lucinda Hooper, Electrical Engineering Graduate, volunteered her skills and knowledge at one of the engineering workshops, and shared her insights as a woman in STEM, inspiring the next generation of engineers and showcasing the endless possibilities and career pathways in engineering. Clough has been a proud partner of the GET Program since 2022. By supporting these initiatives, we’re providing valuable educational opportunities to spark students’ interest in STEM and encourage them to pursue career pathways within the engineering and construction sectors. Engineering feats that dig deeper! Today on World Tunnel Day, celebrated alongside St. Barbara’s Day - the patron saint of tunnellers - we recognise the incredible engineering that drives project progress underground. Webuild’s global expertise in tunnelling has helped shape some of the world’s most ambitious infrastructure projects, from urban metros to high-speed rail networks and hydro-electric systems.   At the iconic Snowy 2.0 Project where innovative tunnelling unfolds, TBM Kirsten is excavating one of the most innovative and technologically advanced tunnels in the world. Kirsten is tasked with excavating the 1.6-kilometre Inclined Pressure Shaft (IPS), which will link the underground power station to the headrace tunnel leading to the upper Tantangara reservoir. Did you know? In 2019, Clough, as part of a joint venture, completed the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) for the POM Power Station development in Papua New Guinea. This nation-building infrastructure represents the first ever utility-scale gas engine project in the country. The project greatly enhanced the reliability of the local electricity grid, reducing diesel importation by utilising local natural resources and drastically reducing PNG’s carbon footprint. The power station achieved this through our design and construction of six high-efficiency reciprocating gas engines and generators, supplied by the PNG LNG project and the 66kv power line and substation network, with a production capacity of 58MW for baseload power to the Port Moresby power grid. 🚇 Inaugurating the Riyadh Metro Network! This week, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud officially inaugurated the Riyadh Metro Network in Saudi Arabia. The longest line in the project was delivered by the Webuild Group. The network's six fully-automated lines cover an impressive combined length of 176 kilometres. This strategic piece of infrastructure will contribute to the capital’s growing urban mobility needs, enhancing the quality of life of residents and visitors alike, in line with the objectives of the nation's Vision 2030.
